Boulder Bend Dunkelweizen is an exceptional creation. This is an unfiltered dark Hefeweizen, with a gently sweet character infusing its medium-bodied smoothness. Notes of chocolate and caramel mingle with a cereal malt flavor contributed by additions of malted wheat. Other Northwest examples of this classic German style are rare and few. Certainly none are as tasty.

Pours a very dark brown color. Smell is mild, a bit of yeast. Taste is wheat, some spice and banana, a bit more hops than usual for this style. Overall a pretty good beer.

Not bad for a dark wheat beer. Murky medium to dark brown appearance with a hint of red. Light malty and wheaty flavors, little bit of sweet and tart fruit. I almost rated the flavor an 8, but more like 7.5...otherwise this would add another couple points to overall rating. Growing on me with each sample of the six-pack, but not really something I would rush to get again. Decent beer though...worth the try.

Malty aroma has a subtle fruity underpinning and a hint of cloves. It pours a dark, rather hazy mahogany with a decent, fine-bubbled, light tan head that leaves some good lacing. Flavor has a malty core and fruity, caramel and nutty notes. Smooth Texture has average body but a good amount of fizz.

A mahogany colored beer with a medium fromthy textured, light beige colored head rising above. There's some hang time. It settles, eventually into a medium soapy ringlet. Roasted aromas. Coffee and roasted malt flavors. Really enjoyable.

this was a randm pickup in Seattle when the mood for a dark wheat hit, but it was average in just about every possible way. the only thing that stood out a little was the slight tobacco aspect in the flavor, which was cool. a little too light and simple otherwise.
