Cobra is a full bodied assertive IPA. Copper in colour, rich caramel flavour and agressive hop bitterness makes this beer to contend with.

Bottle: Bright amber-orange color...decent cap...good glass- lacing qualities. Aroma: classic IPA: carmelized malts with musty-grassy golding tones and some nice fruitiness (over-ripe peaches). A big chew of sweet caramel and fruits in the front...hops show mid way more bittering than anything...don’t really add to the complexity...wet finish, musty, slow bittering. Tad sweet and not enough hops for my liking...but a good crafted ale....more like a strong American pale than an IPA.

Bought the beer and its glass at La Trappe à Fromage in Gatineau, Quebec. Pours a clear amber-caramel colour with a huge cream-foam off-white head. Retention is quite long and lacing is thick and chunky all around. Light carbonation of tiny bubbles. The nose is bitter with hops, and caramel is found lightly in the background, with some notes of coffee and nuts. Slick mouthfeel and full-bodied. The taste is great, with some fruits at first, then the bitter hop kicks in, to then finish with a mix of both and mild caramel in the aftertaste. Grapefruit dryness with some nutty tones. The first time I tried this one (six months ago), it seemed infected, but this one is fresh... and it tastes superb. An awesome IPA and strongly recommended for hopheads.

Bottle: Poured a clear brown color ale with a generous head with average retention. Aroma is quite malty and somewhat floral. Taste is quite bitter as expected with medium malt. Would have liked a more complete body to really enjoy this one with maybe some added sweetness. Still a good IPA and probably one of the best beers from this brewery.
