4oz sample. Small foamy head, decent lacing, dark amber coppery appearance. Average carbonation. Aromas of honey, earthy and grassy. Flavours of honey are abundant, some sweet notes as well as nutty notes and hints of caramel. Mild bitterness, a bit of a dry finish. Not bad.

Bought at La Trappe À Fromage in Gatineau, Quebec. Pours a deep cola brown with red highlights. The tanned creamy head does not stay all that long, but leaves a bit of lace. The nose is very sour at first, and then after breathing a bit, roasted malts, coffee and yeast come out of it. Still, not the best of smell. Slight tart in the mouthfeel. Weird outdated taste at first too, but then, some decent flavours show up. Roasted malt, coffee, molasse, light smokiness, mild nut but not much sign of honey. Not a really bad brew, but this stale feel that Lièvre beers have overall, do not please me very much.

Bottle – Poured a brownish brew with almost no head. Carbonation is weak and body is average. Aroma of malts is very standard to other honey products. Taste is sweet with just the right mix of malts and subtle honey aftertaste. Overall, this is an average honey beer but again I don’t think that anything from this brewery will ever really satisfy me.
