This India Pale Ale has a strong malt character and a large hop profile. We Dry hop this beer with Simcoe and Amarillo hops to give it that great floral aroma and citrus finish. If you like a strong IPA, you’ll find this one just outstanding.

Foamy head atop a copper colored body and blanketing lacing. Citrus and evergreen with a firm cattiness giving a dank angle. Medium bodied and pleasantly bitter. Fairly malty for a California IPA. Caramel and biscuits help to cut the aggressive hops.

another textbooker style-wise from Kern. Didn't knock your socks off, but acheived a very nice balance of bitter, citrus, floral, and a little bit of sweet fruit, and very smooth. i dug this IPA. courtesy of jlozier!

Sampled 9/11/2008/ This IPA pours a deep orange gold color from a 22 oz bottle. Large sized white foamy head with good retention and long lasting lacing. The aroma is fruity and sweet with piney and grapefruity hops. A medium bodied IPA. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are piney and grapefruity. A somewhat sweet hop forward IPA. Nice balance. Medium bitterness. Nice carbonation. Lot of foam so this bottle may be a bit past its prime. Lots of citrus and orange flavors in this IPA. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is crisp and clean. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Sampled from a growler my friend brought back from the brewery for the benefit of the "Lone Pine Brewery Sampling Association." I really didn't care for this, as IPAs go. It was entirely too one-dimensional. Smelled and tasted of piney hops and that was all. Not terribly bitter, just very, very hoppy. Looked great--the classic orange-copper color that any IPA should have with a thick foamy head. A decent beer, but not a whole lot of depth or even enjoyable flavors.

December NorCal tasting - Kern River Brewing? Never heard of 'em. It's a decent beer though. An aroma of citrus and pine but there's a little more than that. I also got a good dose of passion fruit and other tropical fruits. Appearance was a typical solid hazy amber color. Mouthfeel was on the mineral water side, a bit like drinking Alka Seltzer. The flavor was like chewing on hop pellets soaked in Kern's passion fruit nectar. Not bad though.

Bottle courtesy Odeed. Nice amber pour, some haziness, typical IPA head, generous and with good lacing. The aroma was pine and light citrus hops. Flavor was resinous piney hops with citrus supporting in a secondary role, basic grainy notes underneath it all. Finishes quite bitter, darned bitter, yet with a full body (within style). A nice concoction, one to make the hop seaker joyful, yet in my ideal IPA I like a bit more citrus. A well done brew, much thanks to Jacob for hooking me up with this one!
