The beer was a beautiful translucent red that reminded me of a Paulaner Salvator with very little head. The aroma was light on malt with a hint of raspberry. The mouthfeel was very weak...watery and no carbonation. The flavour was a combination of raspberry and coffee. The scary part of this beer is that after taking my notes from the first taste and writing them down..........the last 2/3 of the beer went down in maybe 5 seconds. This beer was WEAK. .

Poured a foamy head, a light copper appearance. weak lacing. Little bit of carbonation. Can smell the raspberry already. fruity flavours are too much, raspberry taste very strong. Not really my type of beer. Reminds me of a flavoured water drink, but much, much stronger!

Pours a bright copper with a small off white head that fades instantly leaving a ring around the edge of the glass. I gotta say the first time I had this beer was on recommendation of a friend and in my inebriated state I didn't like it at all, but I'll give it another try. It smells like raspeberry all right, but not a fresh raspberry. Slightly sour. Flavour is weak with a bit of a raspberry hint but nothing much. Thin mouthfeel with low carbonation. Drinkable for sure but nothing special. There is about 3/4 left of this beer, it has absolutely no head at all and looks pretty boring. No lacing.

I've had this on both draught and from the bottle and I must say it's crap either way. It pours an amber colour with a very thin head, and almost no effervescence. The aroma is definitely raspberries, but nothing else. Any malt and hop character is not to be sniffed. The flavour is very thin, almost watered down. The raspberry feel is strictly aroma as there is no raspberry taste to my mind. Similar to the wheat............nada!

Third in the Kawartha Lakes series. Best appearance of the three. Nice aroma too, if you're into that kind of thing, which I am. You can't really taste or smell the wheat, but you sure can taste the raspberry!. This one seems to be equally as goods from a glass(I used a wheat glass considering it is a wheat beer after all) as it was from the bottle. Not bad. Not bad at all. One of the better fruit beers I've tasted. Perhaps because the wheat offsets the sweetness of the raspberries.

Tap. Man did this let me down. I had high hopes for a thick full bodied beer but it was not to be. I'm not sure what they're trying to do with this but it was very thin and poured with little to no head. The aroma was almost soapy (wtf?) and the taste was not much better as the fruit seemed like an afterthought. Will not be having this again.

A slightly different take on the fruit beer, one which I felt variated greatly from the expected. Not so much that it pays off. This beer seemed to make the raspberry/fruit a subtlety rather than focus. Even then any fruit comes across as flavouring and nothing more. Definitetly looses points from this aspect as lacking in flavour and refreshment. There seems to be a small batch of wheat character that really mucks up the flavour and mouthfeel as its jumbled unexpectedly into the mix on certain taste and not others. Appearence something to look at, though how attractive it is could be debated. A very cloudy, multi toned pinkish brown melange. A little off this one...

Poured a very pretty coppery-red colour, but unfortunately had miniscule head which dissappeared quite quickly. A very nice aroma - subtle raspberry hints over the sweet malts. Very thin mouthfeel, too watery. Good taste of slightly tart raspberry overtones and a nice wheat finish. I'm not exactly sure how to rate it - I really did enjoy it, but at the same time was hoping for a bit more.

Poured a light amber color...small white cap leaves quickly....slight ring left...heavily carbonated. Overpowering nose of raspberry scent. Peppery tongue from the over carbonation...weak aqueous body, light on malts, raspberry flavor over powers (flavor additive?) tart, dry fast finish...no after taste. Not much here...too fizzy...too soda-like in the smell and taste and weak....a good girly drink. A far cry from Amsterdam's great framboise beer.

Kawartha Lakes Brewing was sold to Amsterdam Brewing in 2003. I use to love this brew, especially in summer. I have not tried it since the move. Pours a caramel amber colour with hardly any carbonation. Almost no head, and no lacing at all. The raspberry aroma now smell like it is from a fruit juice. Use to be real powerful. Same as the taste. Most people complained before, because it tasted too much. Now, it is hardly effective. Slight raspberries in the finish, slight wheat in the aftertaste. Refreshing, but a big loss. Same as the rest of the Amsterdam brews, just basic. Thank you KLB for all the years of good brewing... I will now put this one in the past.
