Godiva Chocolate! That's the only thing I can compare this beer to. It's basically liquid Godiva Chocolate. With a smoky sort of coffee like quality to it. Pours a thick dark brown to black with good staying power for the sudsy crown. This one gets poured into a snifter and should be accompanied by a good cigar! And will help get you through winter's bitter chill.

330 ml bottle, as Kasteel Barista Chocolate Quad. ABV is 11%. Very dark colour, mid between mahogany and ebony. Low tan head. Strong aroma of coffee and chocolate, hints of vanilla and caramel. The flavour is fairly sweet, but not cloying. Distinct notes of chocolate, vanilla, caramel and coffee, dark dried fruits and a little hops in the finish. Moderately warming mouthfeel.

I thought the ratings would be higher on average for this. Finding this to be near top 20 for me. Maybe I just love chocolate, as this reminded me kind of like a chocolate egg cream. Quite drinkable for this high of ABV, yet it’s hard to hide the bite @ 11%. Has a thick and creamy texture, but a little thinner than I expected. Flavors of heavy chocolate, coffee, toffee, mild fruits...but mostly chocolate. I’ve seen this around on draft, so will probably look towards that for my next sample.

Had as Barista Chocolate Quad. Pours translucent chocolate brown with a thick light tan head. Aroma presents hay, coffee, chocolate, spice and roast malt notes, saying together "Drink me!" Flavor delivers pleasing chocolate, roast malt, coffee, spice and subtle molasses tones, plus hints of hops and toffee. Mouthfeel features decent body and good fizz. Winter or Barista, a great Belgian. In memory of my dear friend Oscar Zeiger, 1949-2016.

Black (it is dark here) no foam left. Strong nice aroma. Vanilla, pistachios. Nice. Good taste. Perfect winter beer and nice aftertaste. (Arnhem 201501)
