We are very excited to introduce the "KB Signature Series". Each Edition is from a single , handcrafted batch with a limited release of only 1,000 cases. The First Edition was developed in collarboration with the famous chocolatiers at Purdy's. We exclusively used Purdy's extra-dark premium chocolate in the preparation of the recipe and again just before fermentation. Expect a deep chocolate colour, with a light bitter-sweetness and pure chocolate aroma. We would like to thank the chocolatiers at Purdy's for helping us create a truly unique KB Signature Series - First Edition.

Had this one since Dec 2006. Poured a creamy tan head over a clear, dark brown body. Aroma was less chocolate than expected, along with some malt and coffee. Flavour wqs likewise, and mouthfeel was smooth. When things got a little closer to room temperature, the flavour improved to show more chocolate.

Edition Two.
Poured out a mid sized, somewhat bubbly, off white / light tan head. A solid brown brew with decent retention and a very good amount of sticky messy lacing. The aroma is a bit of a let down as I was really expecting the Purdy's chocolate to come out more but it lacks the standout smell that I expected. Some bitter chocolate and a good amount of roasted malts. I had to let this warm substantially (45 min to an hour) before an obvious chocolate aroma gained ground. Now if it had more of this good choc. smell this would be very appealing. It is still a nice brew, no question there. The taste (evaluated when warmed) give a first impression of lacking but it does get better. More bitter chocolate and roasted malts can be found but the flavour comes together on the back end of the sip. The bitterness keeps the sweetness down. Mouthfeel seems a bit too thin. Lots of carbonation. Weak chocolate aftertaste gets overtaken by a light but plesant bitterness. Sorry folks, this has disappointed me. Lacks a chocolate presence big time. I did really enjoy the beer though however not as a chocolate based beer. I could drink lots of these but the price will keep me away.
