An untypical, dark wheat beer from the famous Kaltenberg Brewery. Very malty in taste, with a bitter-sweet finish, but surprisingly light on the tongue.

Pours dark, opaque honey golden with a thick pale buff head. Malty aroma has a fruity overtone of banana and pear plus a bready hint. Flavor has wheaty, banana, malty and pear notes. Texture is quite firm, if not very fizzy. A truly regal beer.

Hazy pale nutbrown/orange colour with big white creamy head. Wheat, fruit, dishwater and a bit caramel in aroma. Flavour is quite watery but does have some hints of bananas, fruits and wheat. Aftertaste is banana and wheat. Quite watery palate.

A pretty nice offering on draft in Wiesbaden at a Konig Ludwig cellar restaurant. The pour was fairly typical, always a nice site: dark murky brown with some orange-ness to it, fluffy large head, good retention, only ok lacing. The aroma was only light roasts, faint aftertaste of ash, mostly caramel, light bananas, light spicing. Mouthfeel was very smooth, overall tilted toward sweetness, but definitely not too sweet. A pretty nice DW.

Bottle. Poured a reddish brown colour, one of the lightest dunkel weissbiers I've seen. Smallish off-white head. Fruit and coriander aroma. Taste is light, yeast and malt. On the thin side on the palate, and foamy in the mouth. I quite like it, it feels like a 'session dunkel weissbier'.
