The Kaiser was a typical pale gold European lager. The head was fluffy and frothy, and didn't last very long. The aroma was light on the hops, but they were distinguishable. The flavour was malt up front with some bitterness in the finish. Your average unoffensive lager

Found this can at a LCBO in Toronto. Pours a clean light golden colour with the typical Euro-lager white head that leaves a slight coat over the brew, and little lacing. The smell of malt is nice at first, then turns to a pils-grassy hop scent. Mild dry mouthfeel that is thin. The taste is a mix of grain and nuts, but not really strong. The small bitterness appears in the finish. Not a bad beer, but mostly for hot summer days... to refresh.

LCBO Outlet #255 (Milton, Ontario, Canada – Main / Bronte)
500ml can
5.00% ABV
Canned On: Unknown
$2.35
It poured a translucent pale golds colour with a 1" fluffy head that stuck around for a minute or two. The aroma was slightly skunky and not at all appealing. As with a lot of lager/pale lager types, the mouthfeel was crisp and clean on the tongue with hints of carbonation. The taste was better than the smell with some malts and grass tones. -

LCBO Find. Only Austrian lager ive had and not really anything interesting. Quite smooth but bland, no kick or carbination. Aroma and Apperance also average. Very Very mediocre.

500ml can...no telling the date of racking. Poured a clear pale straw colored lager with a 1 finger tight-pored white cap with moderate retention that lasts out the drink as a surface lace. Aroma is muted but floral with sweet grainy notes. Profile: Up front light sweet maltiness, light herbal-citrus hopping, bland and over filtered with a watery mouth feel...moves quicklly to an uneventful finish defined as clean and 2 dimensional. Inoffensive all malt elementary commercial lager but just too bland and undefined to satisfy a real lager lover. Another bland, over-filtered euro canned lager that seems to clutter shelf space at the LCBO..I wouldn’t mind but this stuff is way over priced for what you get...should be a buck a beer.

Not so good. A little bit of bitter aftertaste. Strange, a bit whiskeylike taste, mouthfeel is not good and flavour is no good either. Nothig good to say about this beer actually...

Although I know I'm in the minority, I really love this beer. It's a very smooth lager with refreshing characteristics which I have not yet found in any other lager. I've tried it in Austria a few times, and few other beers could compare in flavour or in character. Far better than most of the lagers available over here.

First had this (draught) when I was over in Europe for two weeks in the Summer of `99. We were concentrating on the Munchen area for most of our good beer needs, but did take a day trip to Salzburg to check it out. After getting ripped off by the Austrian border patrol geeks (charging us dumb non-German speaking tourists for 6-month permits we obviously did not need), the rest of the day was cool. Salzburg is a nice town, even if you're like myself and couldn't give a rat's ass about Mozart.
In addition, I remember Kaiser being the best of the otherwise iffy selection of Austrian beers. Not outstanding, and of course couldn't hold a candle to the beers on the German side of the Austrian/Bavarian border, but decent enough.
The same can be said about a can of this that I picked up recently (also at a Trader Joes, for something like $0.70). Decent enough for day-to-day drinking, not great, not horrible. Good marks for drinkability, since there is little to preclude drinking quite a few of these (if you really wanted to, of course!).
