One of Bam's brown eyes is, in fact, black. When mischief reigns supreme, it positively glows. Dedicated to the dark side; smooth, dark, incredibly delicious as only a Jack Russell with bat wings can be.

750ml bottle picked up at the state wine store
Appearance: Clear dark brown with a small beige head and spotty lacing
Aroma: Wet blanket, yeasty and woody
Taste: Tart dark fruit with a dry finish
It has a thin mouthfeel, but smooth and easy drinking.Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 5
Courtesy of sebletitje. Pours dirty dark brackish brown with thin tan head. The aroma is mildly musty dark fruit with hints of dark roastiness that moves into tartness. The taste jumps alive with carbonation attacking the senses with tartness blending into mild wood barrel like bugginess funk. The tartness grows along with hints of dark roastiness. Ends pure tart with a feel of dry wateriness. Interesting.

When I bought this, I was expecting something great since I really enjoyed the Bam Beer. However, I was dissapointed. Darker, pretty looking unfiltered beer. Gunk on the bottom for that unique unfiltered pour. Looks like darker Iced tea. mildy sweet and yeasty aroma. Oooh, the initial flavors are rather spicey and laced with an alky background. Seems higher in alky than what is listed here. does not seem as enjoyable as the other Bam. Has a spicey aftertaste too. Decent carbonation on the palate. Some hay flavors prevail thru the session. Overall a little ajar. Has more personality than this lager lover can appreciate. Not bitter but yet difficult to accept with all those spices. IMHO does not live up to the expectations I have for Jolly Pumpkin.

Cloudy dark copper pour with a frothy two-finger slightly off-white head that left some decent lacing behind. Sour, sweet and spicy aromas. Flavor is somewhat sweet upfront with a slightly sour edge, flavors of mildly sour fruit, yeast, caramel malt, light clove and earth. Highly carbonated with light to medium body. Overall it was pretty good.. not great.. but good enough.

Pours out a dark Amber color with a thick massive foamy head. The aroma of faint light hops. The mouthfeel a tad sour and just a bit thin. The taste is not vey impressive and pretty plain.

From Embrace the Funk Fest. A black Saison, ok. Pours dark brown, like a very thin Porter, tight bubbly head, some lacing. Funky spicy initial nose and flavors, black pepper, earthy funkiness, light sourness, zesty, all from a dark Saison? Yes. Better than I expected.

Sampled from bottle. Try this beer. Do I really need to type a long review to say if you like sour beer to try this one? Try this one. Again and again

First sample from Jolly. 50% off on clearance. Probably the only way I would have sampled this. This isn't one of my favorite styles, but a decent representation. Thought that this was closer to 7-8% when I sampled, which explains why I drank so fast and wasn't as buzzed as I thought I'd be. Split into a few glasses, so each one had more sediment and more sour to it. Not quite a flemish, similar in style. Medium to dark brown appearance. Fruity/tart aroma and flavor.

Aroma is fruity, mainly apple and banana, with a yeasty undertone and a hint of miso. It pours a rich, tempting, dark mahogany with a pale tan head that does not stick around too long. Flavor is mainly fruity, like sour apple with banana and yeast notes and a hint of caramel. Texture is fairly fizzy, just a teensy on the thin side but still good.

Sampled on 7/11/2011. This saison pours a medium to dark amber brown color from a 750ml bottle. Large sized white/beige foamy head, with good retention and nice lacing. The aroma is fruity and sweet, funky and tart. A medium to light bodied sasion. The malts are fruity and sweet, funky and tart. The hops are grapefruity and citrusy. Lively carbonation. Fruity and sweet tasting and then tart and funky. A great summer session beer, its light and refreshing and even though its very tart and funky its all well balanced. Add to that its only 4.3% alcohol makes this a beer you could drink a lot of on a warm summer evening. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean, tart and dry. Aftertaste is tart and fruity.
