Poured a dark brown/redish zero head. Aroma was of dark fruits and alcohol. Flavor was much the same some chocolate and spices as well. Mouthfeel was way to thin for the style. Not bad but needs work.

Bottle, North Wales location. Pours a fairly flat mahoganey color, almost no head after a few seconds, although the bottle did release a pffsst upon opening the cork. Lacing nil. The aroma was dark fruits, light alcohol, some bready notes. The flavor was dark fruits, some nice chocolate with increasing temperatures, caramel, spicing (along the lines of cinnamon or cardamum, couldn't nail it), and some light alcohol (for the style). Mouthfeel was quite thin for the style, and while I didn't want something like motor oil or syrupey, I wanted more body, more depth and definitely some more complexity. An average quad overall (maybe others just liked it more than I), although it missed quite a bit on appearance and mouthfeel (thankfully two of the less exciting rating categories).

A dark brown appearance. The alcohol really stood out in this one. Syrupy sweet with a strong molasses and grape flavor. The flavor was very similar to wine. A big ol wack of alcohol remains on the tounge. Warming and would be good in small amounts.

This was one of my favorite beers at a strong beer event, which is saying something out of 11 beers. Aroma and flavor was awesome. Dark fruit, medium brown color. Little head. Very complex. Vanilla. Didn't taste too strong either.

Poured a cloudy brownish red color with a very small, off white, thin ring of a head that left no lacing on the glass. Aroma of plums, raisins, caramel, spicy cloves and yeast. Taste of caramel and vanilla, loads of dark fruits, slightly vinous, and the alcohol was well masked. A solid quad, though I thought it lacked the complexity from the merlot barrels.
