June 2015, as Höss Dunkler Hirsch Allgäuer Weizen: 500 ml bottle, BB date 06.06.2014, from CITTI-Markt Flensburg. Beautiful reddish brown colour, large off- white head. Moderate aroma of brown bread, hints of banana and cloves. Medium dry and refreshing flavour, bread, citrus and cloves. Nice enough, but not the best of the style.

Second brew from this brewery tonight and comes from one of their 4-pack sampler at the LCBO. I am starting to hate this brewery though (other than their glass), their beers overflow like crazy, but don't even give a nice head. Loads of tiny bubble carbonation coming up to the surface, keeping a small off-white cap of 2mm over the brew. Deep copper colour with some mild aromas of dark fruits and notes of nuts, spices and roasted malts. The mouthfeel is still thin and boring. The taste is rather bland. Very light roasted malt and not much else. Maybe the slimmest caramel I have tasted. Nothing impressive here.

The best beer out of the gift pack. A clear brown pour with a tan coloured head. Caramel and wheat malt dominate the aroma with a weak hoppish hint. Flavour was slightly sweet, and a bit spicy.

Bottled. Slightly hazy ambery nutbrown colour with a small creamy off-white head. Aroma is wheat, banana, some herbal notes and mild caramel. Flavour is the same along with mild yeasty notes. A bit thin in the palate, otherwise ok.

The beer poured a murky brown with a thin tan coloured ring. The aroma is wheat malt, banas, and spices. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour is wheat malt, some dry sourness, and spices. -

500ml bottle: fill date was May 30 2010. Poured a clouded brown ale with a decent puffy cap. Nice aroma, cloves, Banana, succulent fruits, some roast and cocoa. Flavor seemed kind of flat (could be the 6 months in the bottle)...light palate, spritzy, some toasty grains and cocoa, very dry finish goes slightly sour. I’d like a fresher sample before I make up my mind on this beer....it looks and smells so good but the brightness and character seems to lack in the flavour.
