Clear dark brown with small light brown foam ring. Aroma is nice caramel, taste is caramel, a good German dark beer. Aftertaste is quite long lasting (Velp 201306)

Decent size head from pour, dark amber appearance. Some carbonation, good lacing. Aroma of bready malts, wheaty. Thick spicy flavours, roasted matls, with a bit of citrus and notes of raisins/grapes. Not too bad.

500 ml swing-top bottle. Poured a clear oak-burgundy coloured D B with a generous two fingers beige creamy foamy head that had a very long retention and tons of micro bubbles and some big one. Soft carbonation. Good lacing. The aroma is toasted and caramel malts, fruity, ripe raisins and brown sugar. The flavour is caramel malts, fruity, melone (!) and brown sugar. The mouthfeel is quite syrupy and a bit oily. This medium bodied D B has a dry sweety malty finish. Interesting but not really convincing.

Reddish-brown,this is a robust beer made for winter and holidays. It's sweet on the palate with dried fruits notes:plum, figs, dates.I'ts surprisingly easy to drink despite the 7,2% alcvol.

Aroma is extremely good with hints of hops, nuts and caramel. Color is darkish brown with nice white top, which unfortunately does not last long. Taste is a little bit too strong (especially on the side of alcohol) and aftertaste lacks of character.

Best before date on back label: 04.12.2009. This German Doppelbock pours a dark amber-brown colour with full red highlights glowing through. The head is small, beige, creamy, disappears quickly and creates a bit of lacing. Scent of dark fruits with molasses. Smooth and silky mouthfeel. Not sure if this one is just outdated, but it has this taste of vegetable which I do not like (probably coming from the hop). Other than that, plums, nuts, dark roasted malt and bready yeast. Not a big fan of this one.

Picked this up at the liquor store the other day and thought I would give it a try this afternoon. A decent dopplebock. A very dark brown colour with an aroma of sweet malt and sugar. The flavour was roasted malt, coffee, and licorice.

I tried this beer on March 20, 2009 at "Smokeless Joe's" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beeer poured a dark brown/root beer red with a half inch creamy tan coloured head. The aroma was roasted malt, some coffee, chocolate, and plums. The mouthfeel was medium bodied, slightly creamy, and had medium carbonation. The flavour was molasses, roasted malt, and some bitter coffee and chocolate flavours.

Swing top bottle: Decants a deep cheatnut brown lager with lively ruby highlights. 2 finger rocky off-white cap reduces quickly to a surface lace that scores the glass modestly. Aroma is musty-bready-cocoa-molasses...like liquid chocolate bundt cake...some earthy-woody undertones. Rich malt spine, big chew on Munich malts in the front and a detectable wonderful "mellowness" in the character of this beer that allows all the intense flavors to meld together but very subtly...the only sharp edge is from a nearly cloying sweetness that seems to have a molasses signature to it that suggests adjuncts.

Bottle: Poured a deep clear Burgundy color with large off-white foamy head with good retention and good acing. Aroma of banana ester and some cloves with notes of sweet malt. Taste is a nice mix between some fruity ester of banana with light cloves and some sweet malt and light dry fruits. Good carbonation with no traces of alcohol and an average body. Very well done but maybe lacking some body and slightly too dry.
