Pours translucent chocolate brown with a fairly thick light tan head. Crisp, malty aroma has an overtone of apple touched with pear. Flavor is considerably richer than the aroma, fuller in character and bringing notes of caramel and cloves into play. Mouthfeel has decent fizz, if average body. Enjoy.

500 ml bottle, as a 6.9 % ABV on the label. Poured in the old 0.2 l original Asam Bock glass a clear dark brown - red colored Bock with a one finger beige creamy foamy head that had a very long retention. Active carbonation. Good lacing. The aroma is grainy roasted malts, ripe dark fruits, raisins, plums, figs, a touch of caramel. The flavour is sweet roasted malts, dark chocolate, toffee, fruity, nuts, molasses. The mouthfeel is at first creamy and slight crispy, then very smooth. This medium to full bodied Bock has a lingering sweet sticky fruity finish. A superb Doppel Bock !

Good doppelbock that just needs a small push in the flavor department. The beer is a dark brownish red liquid (when held up to the light) with a creamy beige head. The flavor and aroma are very malty. It’s a big sweet, bready beer with some hop spiciness. It’s just not complex or big enough to really stand out in the style.

Dark brown brew with a decent dark tan foam, spotty, sticky lacing. This stuff smells fairly foul - something reminds me of fish. Dark roasted malts, some chocolate, grass? Tons of toasted malts in the flavour with roasted as well, raisin, mid range spices works well, burnt sugar, nuts. Smooth medium full bodied brew, mild carbonation, finishes raisiny, brown sugar and weak spice. Good qualities but I really didn’t like this brew.

Really suprised to see such high marks for this beer. I really didn’t think it was all that, and I could think of a dozen or more dopplebocks that I enjoyed more but are lower rated.

The beer pours out a beautiful mahogany brown color, creamy 2" thick light tan head. The body looks almost purple if you stare at it long enough. Aroma is toasted bread, sour malts, molasses a bit of roasted pepper. Flavor has some light molasses notes, and a mineral water like taste...reminds me of sour/tart malts...hard to describe. Some burnt toast also peeks it’s head out. Honestly, it gets a score a bit higher than it should because it looks beautiful in the glass. The aroma and flavor just aren’t all that.

Will this be taken as blasphemy? For some it may..but i would say the last 10 German dopples i've had have been weak and some have been a little metallicy- but this one was super tastey. Dark brownish black but somewhat translucent colour with a big tan head. Biscuity malt notes, caramel, toast and a hint of nutmeg flavour. Taste reminds me of a charleston chew. Aroma is malty and rich and very pleasent.

A deep brownish-black colored beer. Pour produces a relatively small to moderate foamy head. Settles rather quickly into a soapy ring. The aroma is a strong sweet-roasted malt. The body is moderate with a good bit of smoothness. The flavor is powerful and will be most memorable of this beer tried. It is sweet, roasted as in the aroma and there is a hint of floral-bitter hops, but blends so well to make this a very drinkable brew.

A lady at the LCBO told me that thios is being discontinued in Ontario in favour of other offerings by different breweries so I decided to grab a couple of the remaining bottles and try it out. The beer is a dark brown colour with a thin tan coloured head. The aroma is grass, with some fruit hints, and a touch of hops. The flavour is still the grass, but some spiciness creeps in. I liked it. Should have bought the other bottles!

The beer poured a very dark translucent (when held against the light) reddish brown. The head was tan-coloured. The mouthfeel was medium bodied and medium carbonation. The aroma and the flavour were both grainy malt in all it's glory. Almost a chewy maltiness.
