Smooth malt Flavors of this Belgian-style abbey ale are complimented by traditional imported ingredients. A slightly spicy and complex flavor makes this European celebration-style beer unique and refreshing.

Bottled@The 2nd ES/CS Beer Tasting. (thanks K.K.!). Reddish orange colour with a mediumsized foamy off-white head. Aroma is quite much a Belgian tripel meeting toffee and American hops. Flavour is being similar, in a nice balanced. Hides the ABV really well, making this a pleasant and refreshing strong ABV beer.

Pours out in a clear orabge amber colour with nearly no head. Clean sugary of candied oranges, apricots, rubber and peppery alcohol. Full-bodied with clean cloyingly sweet notes of candied oranges, marzipan and honey. Long sweet finish of candied oranges, mild grassy hops and peppery alcohol. No thanks.

Poured a brown color, with a small head that didn't last long. Aroma not too strong, with malt and apple notes. Sweet flavor with not very strong hops, aftertaste of sweetness and malt. Good beer overall, I recommend this one to introduce some rookies into the craft brewery world since it is not too sour.

drank after an 11 1/2 hour shift on one of the busiest work days, 1/31/09 10:25pm .. . clackity clack, very belgian! .. quite a dose of belgian yeast and bitters with a huge wave of sweetness (honey) .. . medium foam .. "cotton swab!" .. . hides the alcohol very well .. tasty and easy, thank you ..

Bottle from Crizay. Poured an amber color, nice carbonation, decent yet not imrpessive (for the style) head and lacing. The aroma was bananas, apples, grapes. The flavor was sweet malts of toasted bananas, light pears, grapes, very light (as in not even identifiable by me) spicing. Alcohol was a little hot, although overall this was a nice sipper, despite not nailing any specific style with flying colors. Gets me ready for the cooler football weather and some heavier beers.

Bottle courtesy of Jdoolin: Poured a copper color ale with a medium size white foamy head with limited retention and some light lacing. Aroma of sweet sugary malt is dominating with some subtle hints of spices. Taste is mostly dominated by some very sweet malt and some light spices. No hops were discernable and no yeast characteristics that I usually like to find in BSA. Body was slightly light for the style and alcohol was not discernable. I thought this was way too filtered and lacking in spices or yeast characteristics to be truly enjoyable.

A bit of a teaser, this Belgian Style has some outstanding qualities although it wasn't as grand as I expected. Very aromatic, the spicy malt of Belgian familiarity quickly permeated the air above the glass. Sharp and very upfront this is a pleasure to sniff at for a while. Thick, dark golden pour with an orange-apricot hue. Minimal head that eventually goes away leaving some tiny lacing. Mouthfeel is thick and malty, the 10.5% is hardly noticeable. Smooth but this finish is a bit flat. The strong abv is more prominant in the taste but only after a heaping dose of spicy malt. Rather yeasty with a light musty earthiness. The overall flavor is common to a lot of the strong Belgian Ales I've sampled thus far. It's borderline too sweet for my liking. It needs some fine tuning, but overall it's a nice sipper. If you enjoy the bomber by yourself you will surely end up with a big grin on your face before you realize it. Strong stuff indeed.
