This distinctive modern Pale Ale was inspired by the Kolsch pale ales of Cologne, but adapted by brewer Paul Holgate utilising a London ale yeast and generous additions of zesty American aroma hops. Mt Macedon Ale has a honey/red colour and moderate bitterness making it an easy drinking ale with a nice floral hop “kick”.

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7
Pours amber, no bubbles. Off-white head that sinks. Slightly hazy. Aroma of a strong hop profile at first, then some crystal maltiness. After a while note some marmalade complexity. Flavour of the malts, with a fruity, subtle gingery note. The body is a bit thin; it has the bitterness but not much length. On the website they say it has been inspired by Kolsch, uses American hops, and British Ale yeast... so... what does that make it ? Still a nice drop nonetheless....
