Comes out of the bottle a clear solar yellow with a thick, fluffy white head that does not stick around too long. Strong aroma is wheaty, yeasty and rather fruity, the latter being mainly sweet citrus - orange with more than a hint of lemon. Flavor is typical of a decent wheat beer, being wheaty with an undertone of yeast and a citrus hint. Texture has average body and a fair amount of fizz. Nothing special, but still refreshing. Brings a ray of sunshine into a chilly winter day.

A really nice wheat beer - I had the organic - and that's a compliment from a guy who is not normally into wheat beers. Pours a slightly cloudy golden color that clears as it settles. Slight head with absolutely fantastic lacing. Citrus abounds.

i agree this would be a good summer quencher (but it's currently 39 degrees outside). smells of lemon predominantly...a little wheat, a little yeast, and a touch of hops. cloudy dark yellow w/little head. soft, decent body and a thirst quenching mix of citrus and wheat in the flavor. came in trade w/bluesandbarbq...saving the really good stuff for last, though :)

I recently bought a 6-pack of the Highland Oatmeal Porter, then noticed that this single was mixed in. At first I was disappointed because am not a big fan of wheats. Then I figured at least I have another beer to review. Quite happy that I tried this. Everything that I have sampled from these guys have been pretty solid. One of the better American wheats that I've had. Has a bit of a European feel to me with tastes of wheat, rye, hibiscus, maybe some banana. The flavor grew on me towards the end as it warmed a bit in the glass. Appearance is a pale clear yellow with a slight orange hue. I would get a 6'er of this for sure if looking for a summer brew or something on the lighter side.

Pours a light, slightly cloudy yellow with not much head and some lacing. Good carbonation. Citrus - lemon, slightly sweet and tart yeast with a bit of sour apples in the aromas. Taste is zesty with a slightly tart yeasty and lemony taste then some peppery spices and a slight dry bitter finish - A very tasty wheat beer.(I had the organic version.)

The aroma of this brew is very wheaty with some graininess coming through with not much in the way of fruity or doughey overtones like bananas and apples and reminds me more of a witbier-style brew with some spice in the nose. The appearance is a pale and golden yellow with much cloudiness with a very large head on top that is bleach white in color and very carbonated and has good head retention. The mouthfeel is light-bodied, frothy, and thick with nice balances of fruitiness I did not find in the nose with good complexities of wheat malt with a palate that is clean and refreshing. The flavor is smooth, rich, fruity, and yeasty with an aftertaste of some banana as well as spice like you find in a witbier with a finish that is wet, refreshing, and tasty. Overall, an interesting beer here, it looks and feels like a witbier but has flavors of a hefe-weizen; for this very reason, I will say I liked this brew and it was a bit different. This would be a great Summer brew but that is about it."

Wow I feel privileged to be the first to review the Highland Cattail Peak Wheat. I got this one thanks to my friend Shannon who lives in North Carolina and visits the Washington, DC area frequently. Last time she was here I asked her if she had seen any of this seasonal offering. She said she had not but would look next time she was down there. Needless to say, Shannon brought some of this on her next visit.

The beer looks like your standard American wheat ale. The beer has a very pale yellow color to it and a little bit of cloudiness from the yeast in the bottle. After being poured, the beer has a clean white head to it that was a little on the thin side. It quickly dies down to give you a light white skimming on the top of the beer. The aroma is a very clean mixture of yeasts and grains. There is also a slight citrusy smell emitting from the glass.

This one drinks very well and it super refreshing. The main thing I taste is the wheat, yeast, and citrusy notes. I'm struggling to pick up on the hibiscus flavor from the description though.

Overall, I think this is a great summer drinking beer and another find brew from the folks at Highland. They really did a nice job at capturing the true essence of the American wheat ale style.
