Well, sure, the Cold War might be over, but you can?t be certain, can you? You’ve got brewers putting all sorts of crazy things into your beer; do you ever really know where they came from, or why they’re even there in the first place? You need a brew you can trust, and that?s why we make Purity of Essence. It’s an overstuffed blend of the best malts, fresh Noble hops, yeast, and water, brewed according to the German Reinheitsgebot the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516. But you won’t find anything like this in the Old Country. Munich malt adds just a bit of color and malty firmness to balance the intense hoppy flavors and aromas that make this brew distinctly American. Vigilance!

This is a drinkable and non-hateful Mark-1, Mod-0 lager. Nothing more - nothing less. Grassy, grainy aroma in a deep golden colored brew with a moderate white head. Malt finish.

I wouldn't have been happy paying full price for this. Decent beer, but worth more towards the 1/2 price that I paid. Could be because the bottle wasn't fresh, so for an unfiltered beer this style...sitting around a year can't be good. Flavor sort of American Pale-Alish, a little more bitter towards the end. Also seemed overly carbonated, but that also could have been cause of the age. I'm certain that a fresh bottle would have a had a rating of a few more points. Still not much greater than the average.

Something close by. Slight soapy in the nose, Nice yellow pour. Big rocky head with curtains of lace on the sides of the glass as the levels drop. Reminds me of an Amber/ Oktoberfest style brew. A little hint of alcohol with bitter finish. Some after taste, biscuit?-that I cannot id. I personally cant see more than 1 of these at a sitting. Not a favorite. There is much more interesting/satisfying beer out there.
