Home for the Holidays is a malty (but not too sweet!), unfiltered brown ale, fermented with a Trappist Ale yeast, and very subtly oak-aged. Malt notes of chocolate and raisin are balanced by a delicate hint of vanilla and a dry finish from the oak. Our warming winter ale is perfect for evenings in front of the fire with that special someone, or your dog (or better yet, both), or to celebrate the return of a family member who's been away . . . Profits from the sale of this product will be donated to Iraq and Afghanistan War Veterans of America. Please consider making additional donations at www.iava.org. Home for the Holidays is available from October through December only.

22oz bottle .. . Pours a deep amber .. light foam .. . nut shells, brown sugar, light booze, spice, and jackie chan bark .. . a pumped up winter warmer but to one dimensional .. . there goes my shot at the pros. now I'm gonna have to be a senator..

I agree....this has potential, but is still a tasty brew. Guess it's a Belgian Brown Ale, tastes a little like a Scotch, maybe slightly heavier. The hoppiness stands out with some oaky and caramel malt flavors. Some bitterness at the end. Ok aroma. Mouthfeel could be a little smoother, but has a nice creamy texture. First sample from High and Mighty and interested in sampling the others.

A reddish brown colored ale with a big frothy textured, off white head rising above. Some hang time, settling into splotches of film on the sides of the glass and a thick soapy ringlet atop the body. The nose is roasted, caramel sweetness and nuttiness. The body is thick and well carbonated. Nice creaminess on the tongue. Tastes like a brown ale should. Sweet, roasted malt and nuts.

Sampled on 11/27/2009. This brown ale pours a medium to dark brown color from a 22oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is brown sugar, malt, spices, oak and nutty. A medium bodied brown ale. The malts are caramel, fruity and sweet, brown sugar. The hops are herbal and floral. Nice balance of oak, malt and spices. A very pleasurable mixture, nothing grabs control, they all work nicely together. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

this one had the potential to be great, but turned out just ok. textbook winter warmer, albeit a 7.2 light brown ale. the oak adds a nice touch to the aroma especially. body is nice too if not quite exceptional. the flavor is where it falls short. just a little something off (touch of sour/vegetal that doesn't belong)...takes away from what should have been a very good beer.
