The oft-copied, but never truly duplicated, golden style that made our neighbors in Pilsen (and the rest of the Czech Republic) famous around the world. The classic pils profile brought to you by Herold. 12% - Premium Bohemian Lager ABV: 5.1% OG: 12.1 o Hop varieties: Saaz hops from Zatec and Bor Tasting notes: Creamy head. Full bodied golden lager. Softly textured. Creamy malt background. Late hoppy dryness. A beautifully balanced beer. Classic pils profile. Brewing notes: Traditional double decoction pils, lagered for up to 8 weeks. Food pairings: The hoppy dryness makes for a good aperitif. Or serve it like a Chardonnay, with fish. The lagers of South Bohemia often accompany freshwater fish, typically carp, from the local lakes. There are endless local recipes. Perhaps the favorite is to serve the fish in breadcrumbs. Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6
Poured golden yellow with a very thin head which was gone by the time I went take a sip. Flavor is malty but watered down, finish is crisp. Is it possible a major US brewery is exporting this stuff and they are rebottling it? :)

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7
The aroma is nice and pleasant with some sweetness and maybe some bready overtones and is malty with some light bitter. The appearance is a golden and crisp pale yellow with a small head on top that discipates to a bubbly and light lacing and coats the glass decently. The mouthfeel is light-bodied and very crisp with nice malty complexity with average balance with a palate that is smooth but a bit watery. The flavor is malty with some bitterness with some slight floral overtones and a bit bitter with definite saaz hop presence and has a crisp and refreshing finish that provides high drinkability. Overall, quite possibly the best product from Herold I have had and is refreshingly drinkable and nice.
