Pivovar Herold
Pivovar Herold
Since the 15th century beer has been brewed commercially in Bøeznice, a small town 60 kilometers south of Prague. In this century, the Bøeznice brewery, originally part of a (now fully restored) castle formerly owned by the Kolowraty nobility, has produced and distributed excellent beer throughout Bohemia – today’s Czech Republic. Following WWII, the brewery, or pivovar in Czech, was appropriated by the Government and became part of the state-owned Institute for Brewing and Malt Production, which insured continued traditions of classic Bohemian brewing. Now Pivovar Herold Bøeznice is operating under its first truly private ownership since 1945.
