The radicle is the first part of a seedling to emerge from the seed. Our Radicle Pale Ale brings together an emerging artist and an emerging brewer, collaborating in celebration of the 56th annual Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition. Started in 1961 by Murray and Maravelle Koffler, the TOAE has helped launch numerous careers. Notable artists such as Ken Danby, David Blackwood, Joanne Tod, Jennifer Stead and Harlan House exhibited here during early stages of their careers and, last year, Kaley Flowers did the same, winning the Best of Student award. Says Kaley: “These two are looking a bit flushed! One is feeling a very good vibe – the other, in unknowing bliss, may have broken their phone. These figurines were made in homage to some of the unusual and eccentric characters I’ve encountered during after-dark escapades, and inspired by the spectrum of emotions and strange circumstances that sometimes occur during a night of overindulgence!” We hope you’ll agree that this Radicle Pale Ale is a work of art in its own right, and we thank our own emerging artist James Turco for this thoughtful and tasty composition. Dry and easy-drinking with citrus, pine, and floral notes – this is our salute to the great West Coast-style pale ale.
