The fifth OTOP beer is code named BLACK OCEAN. It's a swartz-style lager made with the last wort runnings of the Perkuno's Hammer. It was brewed on Feb. 17th, 2004. It does possess a nice choco-roasty presence and it is nice and clean (or at least it will be after a few more weeks of lagering) and drinkable.

Dark brown with little head. The aroma has a decent roast, but everything is a little ruined by the diacetyl. Not quite a diacetyl bomb, but I’m not big on this beer because of it.

08.14.04 Sampled at HW 5th Anniv. Light roasty aromas. Black and fizzy looking beer with quick head. Flavors dry and crisp, the light bitterness of morning coffee at lunchtime. Maybe too eff for me? This might be what coffee flavored soda would taste like. I hope so! I was looking forward to this schwarz due to it’s lineage and was not let down despite ill success in the past with the style.

I had Heavyweight Black Ocean on cask at the Grey Lodge as part of a Firkin event. It was by far the best beer of the day. It poured a nice dark black colored body with a small tan head. The taste was extremely smooth with notes of chocolate, malts. Excellent beer!

Blind Tiger. Pitch black with a tan hean. Taste was a nice roasted coffee and malt. Full bodied with a nice dry finish. Tasted like a porter but I guesss that shows what I know.

Cask... poured a brownish red color with a small tan, creamy head and nice lacing. Aroma began sweet and fruity, and then turned dry, with roasty malt. Taste was also prominent chocolate, some roasty malt, and finishing smokey. There was a little bitterness present here.
