We craft our S1NIST0R Black Ale using a special German dehusked black malt that is free of astringency, giving the beer a rich black color without the traditional dark beer characteristics. You will notice subtle hints of chocolate with an easy drinking balance on the back end. In the glass the dark color may look intimidating to some, but don't let this beer fool you. Our unique combination of malts creates a very light body and smooth finish. Malts: 2-row Pale, Carafa, Biscuit Hops: Perle ABV: 5.4% (Label on bottle states 5.3% as of 03NOV10) IBU’s: 28

Comes out of the tap a barely translucent reddish sable with a nice pale tan head that leaves behind substantial lacing. Aroma is smoky and malty with a coffee tone and some subtle nuttiness. Smoky roast coffee flavor has nutty, caramel and toffee hints. Texture is smooth and fairly fizzy, rather pleasing.

Had this on tap at Apex. The Sinistor Minister. Pours dark brownish black with a light tan head. Nose is roasted and flavors a slightly smoked. Some mild bitterness but overall it's a smooth, balanced brew.

I picked up this beer at a local Oregon supermarket (oh how I wish I could do that in PA) because I had never heard of 10 Barrel Brewing before, and the name looked interesting. Talk about an awesome pick! This beer is great, and to think I spent a night in Bend, OR and didn't even know this place existed. The beer has a great, nearly black color, but there's hardly any head on it. It's got nice hints of smoke, though not exactly like a smoked beer. Very unusual. And what's even more unusual is how drinkable this thing is. Plenty of flavor without any harsh aftertaste like you sometimes get with such a beer. A little bit of chocolate with hints of toffee. Has a very nice malt sweetness with a perfectly dry finish. One of the best beers I've had in a while.

Sinistor Black ale on the label. Surprise of th night. Very nice huge roasted malt aroma with a touch of smoke and chocolate. thin but smooth with a nice dry flavor. well done...more of a rauschbier than a porter, though.
