An interpretation of an American IPA, the beer uses approximately 3 pounds of hops per barrel and is triple hopped - in the kettle, in the hop back, and dry hopped! Burnished gold, with rich hop aroma and flavor, yet enormous drinkability. Available year round beginning November 2005.

A very good American IPA. Was expecting a ton of hops with the HOPS to the third power on the label...but it was still hoppy enough to satisfy. Pretty smooth going down, gald to see a decent brew coming from my home state of MAryland.

Pours a slightly hazy golden orange with a nice bubbly head, with decent retention. The aroma is of hops galore. A bit of pine and a ton of citrus, pineapple and a mango with some fresh squeezed orange. The taste is of citrus up front with mango, pineapple and orange. This is easy to drink, moderate bitterness and average carbonation, a light character.

Clipper City brews solid beer. This is a quality IPA...not quite DIPA but stronger than the normal...guess like an IPA Extra. A lighter version of their D.I.P.A. On the thiner side as more about the hops here vs. malts. Semi-cloudy medium yellow appearance. Aroma is a little rusty (wet-dogish) but there is some nice citrus-pine to it as well. Only tried this out with a single, but I would get again as their beers are affordable.

7.25 abv on label.Pours a hazy golden color.Small white bubbly head which doesn't last.Very little lacing.Nice crisp citrusy aroma.Pine citrus flavor very smooth.Expected this to be more hop flavored.Still a good tasting beer but the appearance lets it down.

This was a decent IPA, nothing out stood out as excellent for this style. Nothing wrong with it, just nothing exceptional.Decent aroma, and flavor. My bottle said 7.25% alcohol and not the 7.5% stated above.

Thanks to Lou for this tasty treat .. . Pours a sunset gold, lacing is totally tits!.. Boats and hoes! . . Nice velvety smooth IPA, balance is superb with a good hop presents ( ..'N Pat) .. . who the hell is boz scaggs?? .. . Fun and easy to drink, and all they think about is that stupid boat- I swear, I'm so pissed off at my mom. As soon as she's of age, I'm putting her in a home.

For my 800th review I wanted something... interesting... I found this at one of my favorite stops just in today as a matter of fact. Although there's no category for style points, this one gets some on name alone - Loose Cannon. ANYTHING about cannons is cool - love the damn things... So, the aroma is boldly floral and citrusy and it pours a light gold-orange color with a thin white head producing really nice lacing to the end. Medium on the pallette - pleasant. The flavor is equally as bold as the aroma with citrus, pine and bitter hoppiness at the "just right" level. A really nice American IPA.

Nice clear amber pour with a tight creamy white head and good lacing throughout. Pine and some citrus hops with a touch of sweet malt in the aromas. Taste is balanced with mostly pine-some citrus hops like the aroma and a maltiness that serves to offset any bitter - not a lot of bitter linger here but still very tasty.

I was not a huge fan of this particular IPA. I think it is pretty ordinary in fact. I have had worse - the problem with this beer is that is was more hop water than hop beer. I prefer the floral/citrusy hops too - this was too piney for my tastes. Being from Baltimore, Maryland, however, I must support my local breweries.

Clipper City overall makes some really good beer. This one is a crystal orange amber colored ale. Small sudsy white head rises above, But most disappointingly doesn’t stick around for very long. The lacing, though is impressive. The citrusy/floral hops in the nose dominate. But are mellower in taste. The body is full, creamy and well carbonated. A good IPA any enthusiast of this style should NOT pass up.
