What a treat it was to find this beer in the same Gaborone liquor store where I found the Castle Milk Stout. Great surprises here in the land of St. Louis Lager. Pours a clear effervescent amber with a bubbly tan head. A nose of molasses and fruity caramel. Tangy-tart with a slight bitterness and rich sweet-edged mouthfeel. Need to look past somewhat sickly maple and toffee flavors to find distinct hop-bitter and malt-sweet components hard to come by around here.

Disturbing mottled reddish/brown color with a brief bubbly head. Nose starts out very strong and very malty and the accent turns to whisky malt as it breathes. Flavor starts out with the sweet maltiness then finishes with a flourish of coffe with cream and toffee.

bottled 2000, sampled 7/2003 - amber-brown colour, few head, complex aroma of licorice, cherry and smoke, malt, alcohol and tea, the flavour is tart and bitter followed by an explosive aftertaste of caramel, alcohol and malt - nice stuff !

This beer was exceptionally good for a lager made in Namibia. Very good, recommended.
