As spring approaches, a brewer’s thoughts turn to the German tradition: Bock beer. Our Weizenbock welcomes the warmer weather with no less than seven different malts from around the world. The addition of German Perle and Hallertau hops balance the thick malt flavours with pepper and herbal aromas. Specially selected wheat yeast cultures lend banana, vanilla, and clove-like aromas to the beer. Try it with a thick, buttered slice of Tall Grass Prairie Bread Company’s multi grain bread or a decadent Hazelnut Torte. Serve at 8 C. in a tall Weizen glass. 18 IBU. Unfiltered.

Bottle courtesy of Piscator34: Poured a deep brown color beer with a nice large off-white foamy head with good retention and some nice lacing. Aroma of sweet malt with a nice touch of banana and some ester. Taste is dominated by some sweet malt with some subtle notes of banana. Body is quite full with some great carbonation. I was expecting some more complexity but still thought this was a well made beer.

650mil bomber..thanks Trevor. Pours a lucious clouded rusty-brown wheat bock in the glass...great billowy cap that laces well. Aromas are pungent and fills the room with; dates, banana, papya, cocoa and cookie dough....bloody marvelous nose to this ! In the front the tongue is assaulted with peppered cocoa bundt cake with wisps of beechnut and smoke...then the fruity phenols show up for the second course and the taste gets more complex....figs in the aroma but not the taste..mid palate we get succulent fruits, nuts, cocoa, cinnamon and cloves, toasted treacle cookies....this leads into a long finish that tends to go dry with a predominating toasty-char astringency melding with the noble hops for controlled bitterng...overall musty/earthy-fruity-coca character. Damn fine dunkler weizenbock..very drinkable, full of flavor, robust but not overly alcoholic or filling....very well executed.
