500ml bottle. Pours a hazy dark brown with a small tan head that quickly goes to a collar that leaves a little lacing.

The aroma is lots of coffee, some roast and lactic chocolate with a little smoke and nuts.

The flavor is sweet nutty chocolate malts and roast coffee with a dry finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with very low carbonation.

Overall, it's one-dimensional but with great coffee notes. A little pricey at $10 a bottle - there are other more affordable coffee beers that are better.

Pours a deep, opaque sable just a couple red tomcat whiskers above black with a fairly thick and fine-bubbled tan head. Aroma has notes of semi-sweet chocolate and coffee and hints of caramel and molasses. Coffee flavor has chocolate and caramel tones and is a little sweet, but not too sweet. Body is fairly thick and heavy, but fizz is minimal. Overall, a darned good porter, which I recommend to all porter and coffee beer lovers.

On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger, as HaandBryggeriet Costa Rica Porter. Black colour, low tan head. Lovely aroma of mild coffee and dark chocolate, a hint of cigarbox. Medium dry flavour with coffee, dark chocolate and a touch of tar and smoke. Another good beer from HaandBryggeriet!
