Overall i thought this was a very good beer. I've never had a porter so i didn't really know what to expect, but I certainly enjoyed it. Coffee taste and aroma to it. Poured like chocolate syrup, nice and thick, even tasted a bit of it in there too. Pleasantly suprised by this brew.

Have seen this beer in my home state, but bought a six pack in Chicagoland. Only got to drink 4 of the six, due to a short stay. Will be looking to try this one again. A great Porter!

Opaque black with a thin but rocky tan cap that's persistent. Sweet char and cocoa aroma, maybe some coffee but mostly chocolate. Sweet woody char flavor, roasted nuts and chocolate, a hint of raw dried peanut. Quite delicious. Tingles, but otherwise smooth and soothing, just the right body.

My friend handed me this while camping, and said "here, try this...I don't like it". One man's loss is another man's gain, cause I found it quite enjoyable. About average for a porter, or slightly above, but I set my standards high as this is one of my favorite styles. Flavor is almost an 8, but just needs slightly more flavor and balance. Potential is there, but really just one of those "been there done thats" for me.

I LIKE this beer! I prefer it best draft, but I do not think twice ordering it in a bottle! Can't beat the dark beer taste that I am so fond of in beer. Coffee, smokey, and a bit of bitter chocolate. I'm beginning to notice that my better porter/stouts have a thin taupe foam. Maybe it's a given that I'm only becoming aware of in my reviews. I would order this beer time and time again.

Dark brown, almost black with brownish foam head. Aroma is roasted toast and chocolate. Taste is bittersweet chocolate, coffee and toffee. Short aftertaste. (Cleveland 201210)

Been drinking this beer for years. It's good, affordable and always available with a quick hop across the border. It fits the brewers description but add a hint of licorice.Talked myself into another one.

pours almost black in color, with a nice tan head. Very nice coffee and chocolate taste. Like other beers from this brewery an over all good drinkable beer.

I had this beer at a pub in the Hancock building in Chicago. This porter was really nice. I think this is the best offering I have ever had from Great Lakes. Very nice beer.

Definitely the best porter I've ever had. A very black pour with a dark brown head. The aroma consists of roasted malt, dark chocolate, and caramel. The flavour is dark chocolate, plums, and caramel. Very smooth going down and very drinkable.
