A brilliant tight white head forms the crown of this American style unfiltered India Pale Ale. Hazy orange in colour, the Lake Effect packs incredible aromas of grapefruit, mango and tangerines. Medium bodied with subtle malt notes and a pleasant and balanced bitterness (obtained using a variety of fresh hops from the Pacific Northwest), along with notes of grapefruit, a refreshing burst of wintergreen, a hint of dill, and a soft underlying pine touch, are just some of the enticing qualities discovered with each sip. Big hop presence for a big India Pale Ale. The Lake Effect finishes nice and dry and will be sure to have you reaching for another drink.

My can says it's 7.1 % ABV not 6.8 so maybe it's changed since it was first inputted. Good head and good colour gives way to a subtle, grassy aroma. Not over poweringly bitter. Drinkable and subtle but not watered down either, nor can you taste the alcohol either. Just right where an IPA should be.

Beer pours a light gold with a few floaties. Big creamy head leaves a fair amount of lacing. Aroma is fruity and pine. The malt background balances well with the hoppy flavour of grapefruit, pine and grass. Medium mouthfeel, smooth and easy drinking.

Single bottle from the LCBO (written 7.0% ABV on front painted label). Pours a golden colour with an amber hue and lots of particles floating around. Big creamy warm cap that stays a very long time and gives out thick creamy lace. Nice fresh hoppy nose with the grapefruit, pine and grass aromas. The taste is surprisingly not as hoppy and bitter as I expected. Still, pretty good with some grain, light grass, citrus and mild dry finish. Goes down very well and another great brew for the Tank Ten project.

Had the pleasure of enjoying this one at Arrow and Loon as a Nitro brew. That head reminds me a lot of the Valley Irish Red from Mill street at the Ottawa Brewpub but that's where the similarities end. Pours a huge thick creamy head with a very cloudy, light coppery appearance. Lacing is thick and dirty. Some malty flavours but much more hoppy. Cascade hops are quite noticeable. Citrusy. Nice bitterness. Creamy, chalky mouthfeel. Astringent and drying sensation. Pretty good stuff.

On tap at Gig’s. A hazed gold with a decent white cap. Westcoast IPA aromas - floral, grapefruit, citrus some substantia malts. Robust, thick mouth feel, big blast of citrusy-resinous hops are balanced off well with ample crystal and pale malts some exotic fruitiness. Clean bitter finish. Very fresh tasting. Good stuff.

I tried this beer on draught on June 8, 2012 at "C'est What" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a slightly hazed medium gold with a thin creamy cap that laced well. The aroma was grainy malt, grapefruity hops, and some mango/pineapple notes. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavour is very citrusy with the grapefruit hops up front, and the tropical fruit tones less pronounced, but still there.
