Gosser Dark is a famous brew from Austria (advertisements are seen in the classic suspense film The Third Man) and it is an excellent European dunkel. Good example of a full flavored beer not having to be high in alcohol. A quality import that was worth seeking out, before American craft brewing took off.

"Pick-A-Six" #2. Beer #3. Gosser Dark. One of the darkest beer I have ever seen. Very pleasant taste. Very nice white head. Goes down very good. High marks for this one. Will definatly have again.

An excellent brew. It pours a very dark brown with an evaporating tan coloured head. The aroma is stout-like with hints of coffee and roasted malt. The flavour is more barleywine like with sweet malt hints and a hoppy finish.

I was a little skeptical when I picked up a six pack of this one. But the pour, hazy dark red-brown in color was inviting enough. The nose was beady with flowering hops. And the taste a smooth nicely blending of malt and hop.

this is very potent~ poured a very dark brown almost black. the head is a nice and tan, small and creamy. has a very distinct amber roast taste. im gathering notes of rotten fruits and a metal like taste.

This one poured a black color with a beige head that disappeared quickly. It had a sweet malty aroma with a caramel flavor and sweet malty tone. This finished a little too sweet for me.

Sampled in Switzerland. Pour is dark and thick but aroma is slightly unpleasant. Goes down smooth and has a nice flavor. I had better beers but its the best austrian i have ever had.

Brown color with a little bit red tone. Rich foam. Aroma is a little bit watery, but not bad. Taste has some notes of coffee and malt. Nice beer, nothing bad to say.

Solid red-brownish color, soft big head, just it fades away very promptly. Aroma is malty, but much more unpleasantly skunky. Mouthfeel is smooth and mild with nice malty patches. Malty flavor, a litle acidic and not that very pleasant, on the other hand, the end is nice with fine bitterness and sweet patches, that reminds mild and watery porter. Attempts of this brew are good, but it's still unfinished with no clearly expressed flavor.

I had Gosser Dark on tap at Ludwigs in Philly. It poured a reddish color and tasted like a sweet malty brew with roasted flavors. Overall a solid beer and a huge step up from the Blonde.
