Kölsch, the clean and refreshing beer style of Cologne, brewed with authentic German hops and malt, quenches Chicago’s summertime thirst. Pleasant fruit bread aromas lead to a light pale malt palate with toasted French bread and mild citrusy hops. Finishes smoothly with mild bitterness. Food pairing suggestion: Crispy Chicken Salad and Shrimp Po' Boy.

I like Goose Island Beers and this brew is no exception. While it isn't a dark, rich brew like the Christmas Ale (my personal fav), it is a light, crisp, and refreshing summertime swill (as the name implies). It has citrus accents in the flavor and the mouth feel is light and dry. It goes down easy and is easy to drink in large quantities. I had this at my cook out and its a great compliment to burgers and brats on the grill. A good choice at a great price.

A bright golden colored beer with a moderate, three fingered sudsy textured, white head rising above. There's some hang time on the head. A nice lacing of a thin film, more robust ringlet are left behind. Light grassy and grains in the nose. Some sweet fruitiness mixed in with the grains and grassy hops in the taste. Effervescent and crisp on the tongue.

I haven't had more than about a handful of Kolsch's, but would say this is about average for the style. Flavor is ok. Balance is ok. This style seems like a less malty version of a pilsner. Has a clear gold appearance with a light white head. It's ok for summer time, but nothing to write home about.

Pours a clear amber orange with a one finger head that takes a little time to go down. Light carbonation. Aroma is strong for the style with hints of malts and lemon. Taste is a tad watered but flavor is still present. Malts and lemons are prettu much the only thing present. Finishes off a tad dry and sticky. Decent.

Thin, pale yellow body, the cap fizzles out quickly leaving a ring of lace. Aromas of hay, sweet malts, maybe a touch of honey. Mouthfeel is average for the style. Flavors are light, not bad but not plentiful, grass mostly and there is a bit of hop bitterness. Finishes dry, overall o.k.-- for a kolsch.

Bottled, and I wish I could put it back. Kolsch's aren't my favourite style to begin with, but I found this downright horendous. Very weak flavours and aromas were apparent and what existed was very grainy and metallic.

Aug. 2010 - Hey, I liked it. Not sure why it’s so lowly rated. Pale yellow with smallish head. Grainy aroma. Flavor was sweet grain but not so much that this still isn’t a refreshing beer for a hot summer day. Some saazlike hops in the back end. Not as smooth as I would have wanted, but still quite enjoyable.

I sampled this one at a beer tasting Excellent in so many ways Golden color decent amount of lacing. It was interesting that there was almost no aroma. I found this to be very drinkable. It was on a par with Goose Islands other products .

Cloudy yellow to very light gold in color. Very bright white soapy 1 finger head with average lacing. Seems typical of a wheat type of beer. In the nose, I'm getting the lemon with a hint of some sort of spice. Pepper maybe. Also getting a bit of wheat or grain. Nice undertone - not too much. With the taste i'm definitely getting the lemon at first followed by an underlying grapefruit flavor. Not much bitterness at the end. Very thin and mostly watery mouthfeel. Crisp and smooth however. This beer is easily drinkable. Nice summertime brew obviously. Mostly average, but not bad at all. I would drink it again.

Pours a pale gold with a small white head. Aroma is somewhat fruity (apples and lemons) and malty. Smooth mouthfeel and slightly malty flavor with hints of citrus fruits. OK but too plain for my tastes.

12oz bottle. Pale gold with a nice puffy white cap, Aromas of grains grassiness and light apple tones. Light malt in the front some apple and grass, light clean finish. Approachable quenching and tasty, great summer Kolsch
