old review. Nice hoppy tripel-ish thing going on. Lots of light fruit, yeasty spice, and a decent dose of crisp and bittering hops. Goes down pretty easy for 8%. Will likely get again...

This was the last beer I put down at the Goose Island Pub in O'Hare. This beer was big and strong and a great American imitation of a Belgian triple. I would have it again; however, as good as it was, nothing beats the bourbon stout series. I love Goose Island.

One has to like Chicago and it's breweries and Goose Island is no exception. This is not one of their better beers however. A cloudy golden pour, white head, and lots of effervescence. Yeast, light fruit, and malt make up the aroma. The flavour is slightly sour, malty, with a bitter finish.

Pours with a deep golden body topped by a thin head with some lacing left on the glass. It’s grassy from the hops with a slight malty sweetness and a little spice. Medium bodied, highly carbonated and a touch dry.

Pours out in a sparkling and slightly hazy golden appearance topped with a rich sticky white foam. Authentic Duvel-like aroma of white pepper, coriander, lemon, pale malts and alcohol. Nearly full-bodied with notes of coriander, lemon, white bread and white pepper. Long dryish finish of coriander, white pepper, yeast and lemon-zest.

The beer pours out a clear golden orange color with a pillowy white head, with some nice lace work. A fruit dominant nose, with overripe bananas, candi sugar, oranges and a bit of cloves. Fruit also takes over the flavor with this beer, with citrus/pineapple juice flavor, medium honey sweetness, light floral/grassy hops. Alcohol seems a bit low for a BSA.

had a bottle that was approaching three years ... i did enjoy this brew, fits its style well, and has that goose island quality, house yeast is there, aging well ..

Bottled on 6/22/05, so these bottles are approaching the 3 year mark. ABV is listed as 8.0%. A pleasant aged Belgian Strong, I'm afraid the twist-off caps didn't help out too much as there seems to be a little bit of oxidation present. A cloudy golden-orange pour with a small, filmy head and little lacing, under carbonated but the murky orange color really looks nice. Mealy aroma of lightly sweetened plain cereal. A touch of honey and some faint grassy hop scents. Very aromatic and pleasing. Medium bodied, well blended and very smooth. Drinks with ease, but it does feel a touch old. Real nice taste, lots of grainy malts. Bread and cereal with a mild sweetness. Caramel and Belgian sugar along with a pleasant mustiness. Nicely aged, and I would love to compare it to a new bottle to taste how this one is fresh.

Pours cloudy copper with very minimal head. Aroma has a grainy base with alcohol topnotes. Yeast contributes a lot to this, otherwise weak, flavor. Somewhat spicy with unpleasant metallic aftertaste. Watery medium body. My anticipation level was low, but this was an even bigger disappointment than I guessed. Bad showing by GI, especially for a special edition brew.

Sampled from bottle. Pours copper-red with a faint haze and a collared white head. Its aroma is rich and spicy with apples, plums, cherries and a hint of malt. Balanced with biscuit malt, peppery hops and the same fruits as in the nose. Smooth, warming with a clean finish. Very drinkable. Quite enjoyable. A good example of an American brewer following the Belgian tradition of brewing 'digestible' beers. Good job.
