from my notes: The elusive 19th tap @ Green Dragon in Portland. An unexpected surprise, but decent as all heck. Nothing new here, molassesy, malty, yeasty, some raisin/plum fruit, but well tuned. And 12%, wowow!

Im oddly scared of this, suck it up Sally. A dark bronze color with almost no head. Smells oddly close to wine with some grapes, raisins, and cherries. Wow are you kidding it tastes like a wine. I poured it from the bottle I know its not. Flavor contains some grapes and a hint of spices. Alcohol is rather well hidden. Overall good beer?

Bottled. Amber colour, not much head. Aroma is fruits, wood and some alcohol and yeast. Flavour is fruits, alcohol and some slight notes of sourness. Though the alcohol is evident, the beer is still quite well in balance.

Also called "Gaverhopke Extra" this is an excellent beer. A beautiful brown beer with reddish edges anda 1/2 inch tan head. Lots of dark malt, molasses, and plums in the aroma. The flavour is sweet malt, some molasses and licorice, and a decent bitter finish.

11.2 oz bottle from Capone's into a Goblet. Pours a cloudy, reddish-brown with a skim of white rather than any real head. Lacing was light and not lasting. Nose was yeast, raisins, lemon, cherries, cinnamon and chocolate. Taste is very sweet, almost candy-like but followed by the yeast and some sour, tart taste and warming from the alcohol. Mouthfeel is fairly light for a quad and carbonation is adequate. This was a decent sipper but not one I could have another of.

Sampled on 5/14/2010. This Abbey Quad pours a medium brown color from a 33cl bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head, with decent retention and nice lacing. The aroma is dark fruit, caramel, brown sugar and sweet. A medium bodied Abbey Quad. The malts are dark fruit, caramel and sweet. The hops are herbal. Soft carbonation. A fairly sweet quad yet there is a touch of tartness at the finish. Very smooth tasting. Mouthfeel is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly tart.
