The 2001 version was the hardest to get, costing me almost $40. A dark brown pour with red highlights. The aroma is very malty with plum and raisin. The flavour is sweet malt with a bitter finish.

yummy is the first word that comes to mind. this is a nice, rich, robust, hearty brew...highly drinkable, especially for 8.5%. nice use of malts here. for the style, one of the best.

Bottled. Amber colour, small beige head. Aroma is earthy cellar, raisins, fruits and some alcohol. Flavour is very much the same, long earthyness, fruits and alcohol. Also some raisins in the aftertaste.

Bottle courtesy of Tpaliga(drank in 2007): Poured a deep clear brown color ale with a nice foamy head with good retention and great lacing. Aroma of sweet malt with dry fig and plums qualities. Taste is sweet with again the dry figs and plums qualities really coming out. No hops were discernable which is probably right due to the age on this bottle. Body was quite full with some lively carbonation and no alcohol was discernable. Another great vintage ale that aged very gracefully.

The flavor seemed a bit thin to me. Not as malty as their ESB with a very bitter hop character. The impression of thinness may actually come from the bitter aftertaste instead of an actual thinness of flavor. Very attractive red ale with fluffy white head.

2001 vintage. Dark red with golden highlights. There was a thin head with copious carbonation. The aroma had sherry, apples, and a little brown sugar. The taste is relatively dry with maple, oak and a little raisin. A slightly dry and very interesting drink. I would get another bottle, if I could find it.

Bottle. Orange clear in color with a tan head. Hoppy flavor. Tasted kind of old and musty. Not like the 2000 Vintage I had last year. Drinkable.

My favorite of the five Fullers we had that night. This one poured a dull ruby with aroma of tangerine and more Fullers malt. More aromas are honey, pepper, and alcohol. Taste is total nectar. Light toffee, mollasses, hops, cocoa, sherry and musk. Medium body, a bit on the sweet side but really good.

Poured a copper color with a medium off white head and nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of lots of citrus and tropical fruits, also light spice and caramel. Taste was fruity, lightly spiced, sweet malts with moderate alcohol.

I sampled from a 2001 bottle. Although the alcohol content is unknown, my beer smelled and tasted quite strong. Gratefully, the alcohol did not interfere too much with the beer's other characteristics. The malt flavor was fully developed and I noted the aroma of plums.
