On tonight's trip to Franklins Brewery, I ran across the Rubber Chicken Red ale on the draught list. Having never had this before, I had to try it out. Slightly above average is what I would call the Rubber Chicken.

Now thank goodness the Rubber Chicken didn't taste like rubber chicken. In fact I'm not sure how they got the name on this one. What I did get was an unusually dark "red" beer. It almost looked like what you'd expect a nut brown to look like. The beer had very little head on it and had a slight sweet aroma emitting from it.

The flavor was typical of a red though. It had a rather sweet flavor to it with a hint of hoppiness on the back end. I really couldn't put my finger on the sweetness. It might have been a toffee or caramel flavor that I got a hint of.

I wish I liked this more than I actually did. I guess I should have known that nothing involving a "rubber chicken" should be amazing. It's just an average red beer.
