A decent brew from Manitoba, but I am still not a huge fan of this brewery, once again go with half pints brewery. This beer was served to me on special at Wise Guys campus bar, and I must say it hit the spot right after a tough class, would have this again, but would likely not buy a case of it, just enjoy it on tap when it is available.

Picked some of this up as I traveled through Winnipeg. I'm impressed! I am not a real fan of English ales but this is such a good Canadian representation of the style,by one of the few micro brewers Manitoba has. It obviously has been brewed in small batches with premium ingredients (I suspect there are some English malts used in it judging by taste and head color) Pours a clear light copper color, lots of effervescence. A two-finger chunky, off-white head caps the pour and reduces to a surface lace that lasts the drink. Aromas of hops and caramelized malts, light fruit tones. Starts brisk with carbonation and hoppy bitters then creates a sweet malty medium bodied mouth feel, balanced off with the bitter English hops then finishes with a unique malty-yeasty taste as the bitter hops linger. I don't find the English ale yeast unpleasant (as I normally do) in this beer as it is so well balanced with caramelized malt and the bitter hops. It is well buried but still there. This FGB Pale is a good balance that I find myself liking.

There is nothing too special about this beer. Overall it is a good tasting beer that can be enjoyed doing just about anything. Getting to be more popular in the Manitoba area. Hopefully it catches on in other provinces.

Beer pours a copper color with a white thick. Grainy, malt smell, strong but clean. Touch of hops in the aroma as well, but not the strong citrus hoppy like pale ales. Taste is a nice blend of malty sweetness and mild hoppy finish. Full flavor and mouthfeel, smooth, could have a couple quite easily. Nothing spectacular, but a bit above average for the style.

Now this is a bit interesting. Was raiding Hi-Times last weekend, and one of the things I ran across was six-packs of this beer from Manitoba (actually, it was packaged six bottles per thin carboard box). Always on the lookout for anything new/different, I snagged a single.
I didn't have much hope for this, since most Canadian ales I've had in the past (read: Big Rock) were quite stale and unappealing. And what's with the weird 341mL / 11.6 fl.oz-sized bottle? But all that's neither here nor there -- once I got this into a pint glass, things became quite clearer to me.
Although this looks like a standard Pale Ale, I would say it's actually more along the lines of an Ordinary Bitter or maybe a subdued ESB -- definately more English than American in presentation. A bit more head-retention would have been nice.
You need to work to find the hops in this brew (aroma and taste), but what is in there is quite nice. Fuggles n' Goldings, if I'm not mistaken. Nicely sturdy malt-bill here, too.
A good quaffing ale -- easy to drink, and easy on the mouthfeel. Not something you feel have to "work" to enjoy, which is a nice change of pace from many other lesser-known Pale Ales I've tried.
Probably the first and last time I'll ever see this, but I can imagine that this would especially interesting off the tap. But as is, it's not too shabby either.

Bottle: Poured a light golden beer with a standard head with good retention. Aroma is somewhat floral with some nice malts coming out of my glass. Taste is very refreshing with some sweetness coming of the malts and some nice mix of hops. Wow, this is in fact really good for a pale ale. Medium carbonation with stronger body then expected. Overall, this is a very good pale ale. Thanks Piscator34.
