Pours hazy honey golden with a nice buff head. Aroma is not strong, but promises some hops. Boldly hoppy flavor has woody, resiny and grapefruit components. Texture has average viscosity but fizz to spare. Swamp Ape beer is useful and good!

Besides the strength of this brew, not much else going on here. Off balance for a DIPA. Alcohol not hidden at all. Some hop and citrus to it, but the flavor just isn't what it should be for the style. Average (at best) strong beer....and sub-par for the style for sure.

From the tap at Uncorked in Daphne, AL... pours from the growler clear light amber with a hint of carbonation and a small, soft white head that rapidly dissapates. Lacing is phenomenal. Citrusy overall with orange dominating to the nose with a hint of alcohol. Light hint of alcohol in the flavor, but mainly a nicely balanced hoppy to sweet ration with a crisp finish.

Sampled from bottle (and what a fun bottle it is) courtesy of Foamdome. Pours copper with perfect clarity and a surprisingly substantial head given the beer's strength (and what a fun strength it is). The aroma brings surprises in the way of doughy and earthy malt notes (not expected) playing against herbal hops (expected.). Not a bad aroma but the earthy malts combined with the name caused my mind to find the scent somewhat, well, swampy. So be it. The aroma is almost overwhelmingly herbal. It's kind of like a hybrid between beer and a Hall's coughdrop. Bitterness is bold and lends a clean, dry finish. Medium bodied and well carbonated with notable warming affect. An unusual and interesting beer.

A bright amber colored beer with a small, foamy textured, off white head that rises briefly above. It does settle into a nice thick ringlet and healthy film rises along the sides of the glass. The nose is citric-pine hops. In the tasting that and fruity oranges and sweet caramel hit the senses so perfectly. A full bodied beer with nice creaminess on the tongue
