Another new beer on my stop this past weekend. Just an incredible beer. Tons of spicy/piney hops in the flavor. Floral, citrusy hops in the aroma. Very hop forward kind of beer. The hops chosen really go well with the malt bill here. Really smooth, really brought together super well. If it's on tap and you are visiting, get it. -

Tasted at the Bistro’s 13th Annual IPA Fest 8/7/2010. This IPA pours a medium orange color from the tap. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is floral, sweet and spicy. Medium to full bodied IPA. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are floral and slightly citrusy. Nice balance. A touch of spiciness from the rye. Good carbonation. Medium bitterness. Lots of flavors. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Tap, City Beer Store. Good IPA with a noticeable rye presence. I expected the rye to completely fade into the background for this beer, but it comes out as a noticeable spicy grain presence. It's not really a strong note, but because it's relatively small compared to other rye beers that I've tried, the rye seemed to come out more fully than usual. Regardless, the hopping is nice and bold - grapefruit/orange rind. The malt backbone is well done. The flavor starts out juicy and spicy and fades into a nice dry finish. Good beer.

i don't know if this technically has a high enough % of rye to qualify as a rye instead of a pale, but i think it's cheating to put a rye against plain pales...so there you have it. more bitter and dryer than either their pale or their ipa. good body, generous hopping. less balanced than either of the aforementioned beers but quite tasty.
