Part of their Variety Pack from this Christmas with a glass. Pours a brown colour, clean with some copper-golden highlights. Beige head, fairly creamy, average retention with little lacing. Aromas of bananas and some hints of dark fruits. The taste is a blend of bananas and dark fruits as well. Alcohol is well-hidden, but still feel it. A caramel malt base. Not bad, but a little too rich overall without being refined.

Weizenbocks are very hard to find in North America, and dark weizenbocks are even rarer, so I was excited to see this one at the LCBO a while back. A dark brown pour, with a medium sized off-white head. Notes of chocolate, dark fruit, wheat and yeast make up most of the aroma. The flavour starts sweet with the wheat and fruit notes, but the finish is very bitter with the hops and chocolate.

Deep ruddy chocolate color, nearly black, with a tall khaki head that quickly resolves to a thin cap. Aroma of sweet coffee, dried cherry or raisin, maybe just a wee touch of banana. This is all present in the flavor, too, and those elements are delicious. Good traces of char and ash. Underneath it all, there's dark yeasty bread, doughy and mildly bitter. But there's also an unwelcome metallic zing and sour alcohol at first, and that's really harming the overall experience-- maybe I served it too cold. Might have to try a different bottle of this just to check. Medium weight, carbonation unnecessarily sharp.

The beer pours a translucent copper-brown colour with a this tan head. The aroma is light fruit, spices, wheat, and caramel. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour is fairly sweet with some fruit, wheat, and a definite yeastiness. Quite enjoyable. -

Dark brown (hazy) with brown foam head. Lasting and lacing to glass. Aroma is sweet caramel, unlike taste. Although sweet, it is not overwhelming. Good bittersweet aftertaste, somewhat tickling carbonation, slowly turning more sweet. Quite high alcohol. (Velp, 201211)

pours a dark brown color with a large tan head. The aroma is heavy on the toffee, with some bubblegum, banana and clove notes mixed in. The flavor is very similar, the banana and bubblegum notes from the yeast really standing out. There is also some caramel and toffee from the malt and the beer is fairly sweet overall. The mouthfeel is medium with medium carbonation.

the last reviewer nailed this "Flavours are a little more subtle than say, Schneider Aventinus, but the same flavours are there." This brewer seems like the minor league version of the best...everything's there, just not done quite as well. good, doughy and spicy aroma and flavor. hit the spot for the style, though it falls shy of elite.

This is a cracker, this one. Flavours are a little more subtle than say, Schneider Aventinus, but the same flavours are there. Raisins, and a hint of spices, with some roasted malt and just a little bit of something sweet. However, this milder flavour makes it eminently more drinkable and really impresses me, because it makes it just as suitable on a hot summers day as it is for a cold winter's night and there's not many beers out there that can do that. Watch out though, because although it's 7.3%, it does not taste any stronger than regular Erdinger, so if you get carried away, you'll probably end up on the ceiling! And then the floor.

It pours a very dark brown with reddish hints, thin light-tan head and light lacing. Sweet aroma of caramel malts, light hops, raisins, citrus/orange, and mild spices. The mouthfeel is smooth, silky, and rich. Flavors of caramel malts, toffee, raisins, citrus, light hops, and mild spices. Excellent!

Poured into .5l weissen glass. Nice appearance, off white head. Some lacing. Carbonation seemed to be much- maybe my tasting techique. Tasty-OK. will have try again, not a favorite at this time.
