We took our double gold medal winning Brainless Belgian, added cherry puree and aged it in French Chardonnay casks for a secondary fermentation in the barrels. Pours a beautiful deep ruby color with a medium white head. A nice nose of sweet cherries, Belgian malts, and barrel aging.

    22oz bottle -

Aroma - fruit forward aroma, mostly cherries, there is some light bubblegum and alcohol too.

Appearance - hazy blood orange body, 3-finger head with above average retention, light lacing

Mouthfeel - light bodied, medium carbonation, crisp

Flavor - cherry flavor up front, some Belgian spicy notes, straw flavors and noticeable alcohol. Some wood notes come out about 1/2 way through.

Overall - Not bad, esp. if you enjoy cherries. A bit overpriced for the product in the bottle. Good to share or take to a tasting.

I picked this beer up from The Wine Gourmet in Roanoke, VA. I was really excited about giving this beer a whirl; however, it turned out it really wasn't that good. The cherry tasted like extract syrup. Not good - especially for the money.

Big thanks to Lou for providing this stellar beer for the hootenanny tasting. Aroma is tart cherry, oak, herbs and other berry fruit. Taste is black cherry, yeasty, tart fruit again and a small hint of passion fruit somewhere in there. Out of Utah of all places! A nice earthy fruit beer that I think we all enjoyed.

Thanks to Lou I was able to finally sample one of the Brainless bottles which have begun popping up in the area. Murky ruby body with no head to speak of and low carbonation which I believe helps to smooth out this sturdy fruited brew. Fairly complex medley of honey, cherries and spice on top of a pale malt base that ultimately leans to a touch of tartness. Very zesty and sweet. Great for a change of pace, and dangerously drinkable.

Another Belmont Party Supply addition to the Hootenanny: slight hazy apricot straw beige pour with a slight head and light lacing. Aromas of slight cherries and berries, light oak and woodsy vanilla, a bit of Belgian yeasties and light earthy and floral hops very understated. Flavor is a blend of very slight cherries, oaken cask, a hint of honeysuckle, some tartness, an not much of a hint of the 10.3% abv. Big beer that doesn't burn at all. Nice and fairly complex.

22oz bottle, release #1. Pours an unusual pinkish red with a big fizzy/bubbly (actually kind of loud) light pink head that fizzes down quickly to a thin film and leaves little lacing.

The aroma is musty earthy wood with some sweet medicinal cherries.

The flavor is some sweet artificial tasting cherry with some wood and an off kind off leathery bitter taste in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with sharp carbonation.

Overall, I really didn't care for this one. The cherry flavors seemed fake and it had some off notes. Their peach was much better.
