the first of the brews from Pittsburgh’s newest and MICRO-est microbrewery to hit the streets. Truly, a hopped-up American IPA with loads of Centennial and Cascade hops, and just barely enough malt backbone to balance it out. Our flagship brew.

Out of the tap it pours cloudy yellow orange at the Bocktown Bar in the Robinson mall shopping center. Nice hoppy floral aroma. Has some bubbles arising but it does not qualify as lacing. Pretty hoppy taste but not as an IPA of DIPA. Flavor is a little weak compared to other IPAs and I think that may be a benefit since I don’t really care for IPA bitter lingering beers. However, the finish is bitterness that builds as the resolution continues. This is a little better than your typical IPA but for the style, I think IPA lovers may find this without offense. Best IPA I’ve tasted.

Murky golden amber color with a medium sized, off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of pine, citrus, toffee, and floral hops. Taste was bitter, grapefruit, light caramel malts, pine, lightly resiny, with a dry finish.

poured a amber color with a cream colored head the flavor was hoppy but not really bitter you could tell it was hops but not enjoyable like most ipa's the mouthfeel was thin the aroma was very citrusy which that was probally the best part about the beer

Being the first review, I wish I could give the beer from close to home a better rating, but oh well here goes; Big Hop poured a beautiful deep amber color topped with a lasting off white head that left great lace. After the appearence its all downhill. The aroma was very bland with some hop notes coming through. The mouthfeel was lighter to medium bodied. The flavor was a strange hoppy flavor that was slightly unpleasent and reminded me of cardboard. A very subpar IPA by my standards.
