Darker yellow, small lacing foam head. Some hoppy aroma, little sweet taste. Drinking this bit too warm (no fridge) and alcohol is dominating, but still nice beer. (Rouen 201507)

Single big brown bottle with cork and cage from the SAQ. Written 7.5% ABV. on the bottle's painted label. Pours a cloudy golden colour with a frothy white head that has good retention and not much lacing, but a thick coat tops the brew and seems to stay. The hop and alcohol combined gives out this plastic aroma, but blended with some citrus notes (oranges, lemon) and Belgian Ale yeast. The taste is pretty similar, but very watery with not much of a finish (but a nice lack of the plastic). Thankfully, a little hop does come out eventually. Still, was expecting a better beer.

Aromas are rather faint some bubblegum, along with some floral note, also a metallic presence. Clear yellow body, with a thin ringed head. The mouthfeel is crisp. flavor is kinda like a lager, a long grassy finish.

To say I wasn't impressed with this beer would be an understatement. If fact, I don't recall the last time I gave a Belgian strong a lower score than a 3. Aroma is decidedly sweet with an almost buttery effect. Light honey and apples too, but I swear I can smell buttered bread. Spicy-orange-peel like flavor, old honey and alcohol come up in the flavor dept. I'm guessing the honey is candi sugar that's just gotten old and past it's prime. I'm wondering what this would be like after 6-months post bottling. -

Tasted on tap at the Celebrator Anniversary Party on 2/20/2011. This Belgian Strong Ale pours a hazy straw gold color from the tap. Medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity, yeasty and sweet. A medium bodied Belgian Strong Ale. The malts are fruity and sweet, with a touch of apricot. The hops are herbal and spicy. Lively carbonation. Yeasty and bright. Clean and crisp. Light and refreshing. A easy drinking Belgian Strong, there is a touch of dryness at the finish that help balance the sweetness and yeastiness. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean, smooth and dry. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Bottle: Poured a deep golden ale with a white foamy head with good retention and some minimal lacing. Aroma of Belgian malt with some sweetness and some notes of dry European hops. Taste is also dominated by some sweet malt notes with light bitter and dry notes of hops. Medium body with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol.

Hazy yellow colour, small white head. Aroma is bitteralmond, metal, wheat and slight cherry. Flavour is sour fruits, raisins, hops and yeast. Palate is smooth and the beer is pleasantly carbonated.

honey coloured with a little persistant foam but no lace; complex aroma (grape, artichoke ?), sweet and medium-bodied with a moderate malty and fruity finish - very pleasant

Draught at Den Tatoverede Enke, Copenhagen. Hazy golden / amber colour, decent head. Not very exciting aroma, just some faint notes of malts, hay and apples. Flavour has some malty sweetness and weak spices. Rather alcoholic. This is no masterpiece to offer a real Norwegian troll - and I should know what I’m talking about!
