This really isn't so much like drinking a beer as it is like sucking on half a grapefruit. Needless to say, that sour/bitter taste is huge and remains for a long aftertaste. Pours a slightly red amber with a big, soft off-white head. Lots of little glistening bubbles make a sparkling foam on the sides of the glass. Never saw the remains on the side of the glass sparkle like that before. Overall, pretty much everything I expected from the name/brewery. Well Done.

Pours a dark amber with pillowy white (some brown) head with excellent lacing. Pleasant aroma of hops, pine, tangerine, some licorace, and clove/spice. Very smooth and creamy mouthfeel that is medium-bodied. Flavor of malts, hops, citrus tanginess, tobacco, and spice. This is awesome!

The beer is a dark orange, slightly hazed appearance. Has an absolutlly gorgeous light tan ,frothy head. Wow a very large aroma to this one, very fruity and piney..hoparama..quite lovelly. This is indeed a hopheads IPA.The taste is around 90% hops in all their glory but with an underpinning of solid malts. Very nice on the palate..good long lasting and pleasant bitterness. I found this an excellent IPA. always knew Deschutes had it in em to produce a classic American IPA and they have. Recommended.

Thanks to bols for this opportunity! Poured a reddish orange color with a respectable initial head and some lacing. Quite an IPA, loaded with hops, hoppy aromas and flavors. Citrus grapefruit flavors in the aroma. Flavor was strong orange rind bitterness over light grapefruits. Some floral aspects came out with warmer temperatures. Was expecting more caramel in the malt flavor, but it wasn't there very strongly (not a bad thing). Mouthfeel was very full with average carbonation.

22 oz bottle. Pours a hazy reddish amber with a frothy light tan head that retains well and leaves some lacing. Some floaties in the second pour.
The aroma is some slightly sweet doughy malts, a little fruitiness, and a huge spicy pine and floral hop presence. Nice!
The flavor is big on grassy and piney hops. There's a little sweet fruit (melon, grapefruit and orange). The bitterness is fairly mellow and increases some in the finish and aftertaste - which is long lasting. The mouthfeel is a little on the thin and watery side though.
Overall, a very nice IPA! A little more body and a slightly more flavorful and this would be fantastic!
