A very good porter... deep tan head atop a deep reddish-brown body that settled nicely into the pint glass. Roasted malt and a hint of maple (damn, maybe this would be nice with blueberry pancakes)... a nuttieness in the flavor with the other aromas translating to the flavor as well. Bold, yet very drinkable and clean without too much sweetness.... had to take a growler of this one with me as well.

Beer 6 of my 12 Beers of Christmas - this one a local white whale of sorts; seasonal, popular and hard to get. Dark brown mahogany pour with a fluffy sustained tan head and heavy lacing. Inviting aromas of toasted malts with a nice dose of maple, lightly roasted pecans, very slight coffee and a slight brown ale sour. Taste is moderately maple up front then light pecans and nuts with a dry hint-of-sweet with a touch of sour finish. Very nice winter ale and a soon to be empty growler. Merry Christmas to me!
