Clear dark brown with quick fading light brown slightly lacing foam head. Aroma is light chocolate, some grass. Taste is wow, can’t believe this is classified as a Belgian Strong Ale. High alcohol, OK, but taste is good. Nice bitter, some coffee notes. (Velp 201408)

330 ml capped bottle bought at the brewery. Poured in the original De Molen snifter an unfiltered and opaque rich-burgundy coloured BSA with a generous three fingers tan and dense creamy foamy head that had a very long retention and tons of micro bubbles. Soft carbonation. Good lacing. The aroma is roasted malts, burnt coffee beans, cocoa powder, dark chocolate, molasses and dried fruits. The flavour is rich, burnt coffee beans, roasted malts, caramel, molasses, spicy, licorice, riped fruits, plums, raisins and faint but easy detecting aromatic and grassy hops on the end. The mouthfeel is creamy, very thick, syrupy and smooth. This full bodied BSA has a long roasted malts, sugary and bitter finish, a well hidden alcohol and is well balanced. A warm brew from the well known De Molen brewery. What a lucky man I am to have the privilege to taste such a beautiful ale !

Bottle, kindly shared by abemorsten. ABV is 10.2%. Black colour, big beige head. Lovely malty, oaky, mildly spicy and nearly vinous aroma. Warming mouthfeel. Very malty flavour, the alcohol is noticeable. Bitter finish.

Bottled (from bierzwerg.de). Very deep brown colour along with a beigeish brown head. Aroma is raisins, some alcohol, mild yeastyness, grass, burnt wet wood as well as some slight liquorice and spices. Flavour is being rather much the same with raisins and figs being the most evident. Rather hoppy finish compared to many other Belgian Strong Ales.
