Another incredible beer.... seems to be so many that are accessible these days. To quote ante, "rye, tar and smoke" but also peat, salt, sage, cigar smoke in the rain, touch of anise, some light meaty flavour... like meat pie maybe. Light bodied and slightly bitter. Toast, toast and some slight ciabatta. Great.

Pours a deep, barely translucent cola brown with a thin tan head that doesn't hang around too long. Robust aroma has nutty, smoky, caramel, coffee and roast malt notes, almost more like a stout or porter. Flavor has a decided overtone of smoky barbecue with roast malt, burnt coffee, nutty and subtle hoppy notes as well. Texture is firm and smooth, though fizz leaves a bit to be desired. No need for blood, sweat or tears - just drink it.

Clear darker brown, dark ruby with brown lasting foam head, lacing to glass. Aroma is smokey BBQ wood, coffee. Taste is nice bitter, smoked, cold coffee, some caramel. Aftertaste is quite long lasting. (Velp 201303)

Nice whiskeyish aspect to the a=nose and flavor. Strong on the palate. Not in the catergory of the Sclenkerla stuff, but definitely a nice smoked sipper.

Massive, massive, gigantic, huge, big, humungous, cap floating on top, its big is what I'm trying to get across. The body is dark cola brown, lacing is ridiculous. HAHA Wife gave a great description...warm beer festering on a old wooden smokey bar floor. I agree completely but I'll add a large blueberry sweetness and a after thought of black liquorish. Taste the same but less woody, a touch thinner. Coffee bitter after taste. Cola in the taste??? yes there is! I'm currently watching the very first episode of The Simpsons....Still holds up 23 years later. Light bacon what must be the peat, I dig the fact the peat or "bacon" is light and not a full on assault to the face like some others of the style turn out to be (cough, cough, Mikkeller, cough). Taste is fairly simple, light, high quality , highly drinkable and completely forgettable.

Bottle, kindly shared by abemorsten. ABV is 8.4%. Gusher bottle. Black colour, huge greyish beige head. Nice dryish smoked aroma, notes of ashes, hints of tar and old rope. Flavour of dominant smoke, smoked meat and ashes. Too dry.

Pours out in a hazy brown colour with a small tan-colored foam. Smoked ham, peated amlts and roasted nuts in the aroma. Medium to full-bodied with notes of toasted malts, rye, tar and smoke. Long smoky finish of grains and licorice.
