Pours clearish mahogany with a nice eggshell head. Aroma features tart dark fruit, red wine, a little malt. Flavor gives tart cherry with a little plum, red wine, roast malt, a little wood. Texture presents firm body and peppy fizz. Reserve some while you can.

Clear dark bourgondien, tanned foam ring remaining. Sour & Sweet in aroma and taste, quite fresh, cherries. Great, a better one that previous. (Essen 201612)

I had this beer at Den Tatoverede Enke (The Tattooed Widow) in Copenhagen, Denmark. This beer was perhaps the best beer of the trip. It was RICH with cherrie flavors, sourness, and funk. I loved this beer and would pick it up again anytime I see it. This was my first beer by De Dolle and it won't be my last. De Dolle is expensive but they are artisans!

Interesting brew. '08 version. Sampled at Commons bottle share. Dark reddish brown. some red wine notes and apple cinnamon mid-palate. Tart fruits, plummy and definately a little hotness. Even after all those years.

February 2011 Vertical Tasting: Enjoyed samples from 2008 and 2007. All around a nice Belgian Sour with rich malts intertwined by mixed fruits and funky yeasts. 2008 was refreshingly tart, sturdy and mature. It was also the better of the two bottles. 2007 came off as a touch diluted/muted compared to 2008.

13%. not expecting sour, but it was definitely there in the flavor and aroma. what a nice little surprise. very complex. fruity malt, vinous, oak, tart, all rolled into a nice little package. not available around here or i'd get more.

Take a known great Belgian Ale, age it in wine barrels, and release it as a new beer. A deep solid mahogany colour. Head is creamy, tan coloured, and sticks around. The aroma is dark fruits, sweet malt, some tart fruit and yeast. The flavour is a little funkiier than the normal Oerbier, but the yeast and malt are still there. An excellent beer!

Bottle states "Brewed in 2008" - Nice deep ruby amber pour with little head or lacing. Sour wine-like aroma with tart cherries and fruits, slight vinegar, Bordeaux grapes. Taste is at first sour but not overly with some vanilla, sour tart cherries, more deep red wine qualities. Most excellent and satisfying. Well-hidden abv. It's like candy for the taste buds...

2006. Bottle from Knightly. High expectations and it didn’t let down. Pours a dark brownish-red color with a thick tan head that slowly settles down to patches. The aroma is big; fruity, funky, yeast, perfume, champagne. After it settles for a few seconds I get huge whiffs of cherry and vinegar. Really nice overall scent. The flavors show tart cherries, vinegar, plums, grapes, apples, funk. Finishes tart and dry. A Belgian Strong with a heavy flemish sour influence. Holy smooth... 13%? You’ve got to be kidding me. It tastes like it could be half that. A very tasty beer. I’ll have to get more.
