Coney Island Lager is a hybrid mashup of styles between European brewing tradition, a very unusual malt bill and hops that strongly nod at American craft.

Got this in 22 oz bottle and found that it was probably not the freshest. Poured light reddish brown with little to no head or lacing, leading me to question its freshness. Delicious smell of toasty caramel malt with a hint of piney hops. Not particularly full bodied in the mouth but the taste is light and sweet, reminding me a bit of candy corn ending with a minor lager bite. Overall an especially malt heavy but tasty Vienna lager. Need to try a fresher batch, hopefully on draught since I live outside NYC.

Brownish tan body with a quarter inch tan cap, looks good for what its suppose to be. Aroma is very mild but what I can detect it seems good. Lemony apple hops, almost hitting Christmas spices but not really, malts are faint. Taste is excellent for a lager.....but what is that really saying. Taste seems very sweet. Some sips seem completely flavorless. Grassy, grainy, clean.........good lager.

Man, that freaky ass clown label sure gets your attention. A brew I've passed on several times but decided to give a few Coneys a whirl. This ones just ok... Light grassy hops and some grainy malt and a bit of sweetness, with a slightly bitter finish. Average brew.

Pours a mid copper amber body with two fingers of head with a tiny bit of lace. Pilsner yeast, caramel and grassy hops are evident in the nose. Flavor profile here is quite mild; 8 types of malt equal, a vague sweet/ caramel presence, 6 types of hops but mostly grassy, earthy notes. Mouthfeel is rather light and smooth, very drinkable.

12oz bottle. Pours a slightly hazy light amber with a small off white head that leaves a little lacing.
The aroma is sweet toasted caramel and toffee malts.
The flavor is sweet toffee and caramel malts with a grassy bitter finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation and a syrupy sweet texture.
Overall, I didn't care for it too much. Reminded me of an amped up Dos Equis. -

What's a beer named after a Brooklyn beach area doing being brewed in California. That aside, this is a tasty Vienna lager. Nice balance of caramel malt and hops. Good beer!

Oooph glad I just got a sample of this. This was on tap so why does this tastes old? Anyways the aroma was yeasty and contains some caramel and dark fruit. The flavor is also sour and funky in a bad way. Again this brewer hasn’t been in town long and this is on tap. I may have to revisit this one but the one I had at Mellow Mushroom was awful!

The label is a whimisical attraction. Maybe that would explain how difficult it seems to be to categorize this beer. A deep copper colored beer with a small white soapy head. That head disappears quickly. A big floral and citrus hop aroma rises to the nose. The carbonation is right on mark. The body is robust. The taste seems more hopping like an IPA than a lager with an in your face hopping taste., It is overall a good, thirst quenching beer.

This was my 2nd favorite beer from the Coney Island line-up of beers we had. While it didn’t knock my off my feet, it was solid enough to enjoy the entire pint without dumping it out like the other 2.
The beer pours out a clear copper color with a small, tight white head. Aroma has some light toasted malt notes, a bit biscuity, light floral notes and a touch of toffee. Had they all been kicked up a few notches, it obviously would have been a much more interesting beer. Flavor is sweet, with honeyish malt profile, toasted bread with a mild grassy hop character. Easy to drink, easy to forget though. -
