Also known as Scottish Oatmeal Stout. Oats are used in the brewing of Scottish Oatmeal Stout to enhance the flavour of the black malt and roasted barley which give this traditional beer its rich dark colour and strong, complex roasted malt aroma and flavour, reminiscent of coffee and dark chocolate. These flavours are offset by a good hop bitterness and silky aftertaste.

Scottish Oatmeal Stout, 16.9 oz bottle with a best by date of October 2008: A barely transparent brown pour with an amber tint around the edges. Fizzy cola-like, diminishing, light tan head and very little lacing. A faint aroma of sweet and roasted malt with some lactic notes. Mouth feel is light for a stout, creamy, and has an odd cardboard aftertaste. Lightly roasted malt flavor with crackers and paper. Fairly empty and thin all around this beer let me down. I was really looking forward to this one, and Broughton puts out some good stuff.

Pours a dark, non-transparent color, dark brown/black with hints of red. The head is very impressive tan/dark brown, tastes good/smooth and has interesting white specks throughout. Reminds me of a root beer float in appearance. Smell of hops, roasted malts, and coffee. Mouthfeel is average: smooth not too harsh. Tastes of coffee, cocoa, citrus, and some licorace. One of the best I've had to date.

Not bad. Its a little thin but not watery. pours black with reddish hints & a decent tan head that goes away pretty fast....some lacing as well. I'm getting roasted malts and some cocoa in the aroma. Its a little weak though. It is comparible to Sam Smith's oatmeal stout. Bittersweet finish. Overall: pretty good.

A mild aroma of some coccoa and perhaps coffee. This stout feels a little light bodied but has mild malty flavors that go down ok. High carbonation and some caramel as well. A good lacing stout, just a little too much carbonation to buy it again.

A nice drinkable stout, this one poured a dark brown with a normal head and standard lacing for the style. The aroma was hard to pick up, some bitter chocolate. The flavor was bitter chocolate with some lactic tones and light roasted malts. Mouthfeel was moderate to full bodied. Low carbonation.

The aroma is chocolatey with hints of coffee. The appearance is a rich, creamy dark amber with a creamy, off-white head that remains. The mouthfeel is medium-bodied and wet and really coats the pallet. The flavor is somewhat robust with hints of chocolate and coffee and extremely smooth and creamy. Overall, nice coating on the glass and very easy to drink and pleasing and relaxing. Also, it has some slight malty flavors which really set it off.

An easy drinking stout, nothing really comes out and slaps you in the face. Dark black and a head that fades away. still a good drinkin stout
